The hotel is clean and the view is spectacular, it also helps that the ocean is 10 steps from the balcony (terrace)... As far as everything else, the food is average, the service is slow.... this is not an "all inclusive" we've grown used to... Hot and cold water come at will (mostly one at a time), and there is no nightlife...If all you care about is the island beaches, it works, if you want luxury, you are in the wrong place

Room Tip: Ocean front rooms on the first floor are the best as you can walk off your terrace...

Thank you for your review on your stay with us! As a resort dedicated to providing superior customer service we are continually striving to best serve our customers.

Our Executive Chef and his staff of several Lead Cooks have been diligent in providing a vast array of dining choices for our patrons and to date has received many outstanding reviews. Each day we offer a different buffet menu for lunch and themed dinners at night. The Rok dinner is a great experience that many people raved about. We also have different entertainment at the Resort and at the Casino every night.

Thank you once again for your review and we'll be on the look-out for your return trip to St. Croix and the Divi Carina Bay All-Inclusive Resort!

My husband and I visited your resort over the new year. I can't tell you enough how much we enjoyed our time there! The Divi is truely beautiful place and the staff is outstanding! The first person we met when we got there was Shenigue (sorry about the spelling) she was very friendly and greeted us with a smile every time we saw her. We were informed that we needed to make life dinner reservations...... but remember that everything it's on island time :-)! Which seemed to be our motto for the week. The bars and food were fantastic. Krys and scott were great and had new drink ready for us when we finished one! Kevin and the staff at the pizza place were always good for a laugh and a good night! Edmond Alec and the othet bellman were always there to make sure us party people made it to and from the casino! And if we got bored the wonderful ladies in the gift shop were full of suggestions and great things do.... the tan tan tour was a blast! We will definitely come back and hope the wonderful stay that was there is still there because they made our trip that much better! Oh yeah...... thank you divi for an amazing honeymoon we are expecting our first child in sep!

I have read some of the positive reviews for the location and I am quite dumbfounded. Obviously some of these travelers’ expectations are not of the standard for staying at an all inclusive resort. This place is not a great deal, let alone a good deal. Let me start by stating the only positive, the view. The view at sunrise is beautiful along with the entire shore line. That, my traveling friends, is the only positive along with the pizza shack in the parking lot. Let me start with the rooms. The floor is tile with a worn out king bed and outdated furniture. The balcony has plenty of eyebolts sticking out of the floor for you to strike your toes on and cry in pain. These are used for the very attractive hurricane curtains hanging in plain view. The floors are not swept daily by room service so the bathroom floor gets nice and gritty as you can see the black foot prints when you get out of the shower. A moping at least every other day would be nice. The sink has about 3-5 seconds of cold water before it turns blistering hot. The shower is just plain messed up. When you use it, it becomes a dance to avoid 1st degree burns from the scolding hot water that quickly turns ice cold. So you have a brief moment in time to shower without harm during the temperature transition. They give you soap the size of a 50 cent piece and a 2 oz bottle of shampoo. My wife asked for lotion and we were told to use the hair conditioner for lotion. They do not stock lotion. There was a lemon chunk in the wet bar when we checked in and it stated there all week with us. The TV reception is grainy and it gets 12 channels at best.
The fitness center is a joke, broken equipment and not a very big area to work out in at all. The meals are ridiculously overpriced. Good luck finding food after dinner because the place shuts down at 10 pm. The staff is not friendly at all; majority of staff had trainee name tags. Nothing but buffets every day with the previous days left over’s. Italian night was a joke, BBQ night was a joke, and they didn’t even have pulled pork or BBQ chicken nor BBQ shrimp or beans. Just the left over’s from the day before. I was going there with the thought of seafood every day. They had Mahi Mahi broiled everyday and that was it. Not even shrimp cocktail. The best meal was at the pizza shack in the parking lot. The man running that place was great. But again last call was at 945 pm.
The place advertises 4 restaurants and that is not true. The use 2 kitchens and there is 1 restaurant on the 2nd floor and 1 on the first floor and that’s it. They count the bar as a 3rd and the casino grill that’s across the road as the 4th. Hardly a restaurant by any standard. The bars….Again another name to good for this place. They have a bar on the first floor that serves the day hours for the pool and beach goers. It’s staffed by a man named Curt that thinks he is the greatest. He closed on Monday the 14th at 3pm caused he didn’t feel like working and longer. Tuesday he closed at 5pm. Wednesday he began to close at 4 but one of the restaurant servers decided to keep it open and fill in till 6 after I tipped her a 20. After that you have to wait for the Starlight bar to open and then when it does you must wait 15-20 minutes for a drink because it’s just one bartender for all the patrons.
The DJ did show up Monday night but the dance floor is the lobby with guest walking to and fro in the well lighted area. The Tuesday night Fire Dancers never showed up. Wednesday night was hermit crab races and that was somewhat entertaining, the mini golf was not open on Monday and Tuesday. The Spa was something I was really looking forward to. Tuesday morning my wife and I went to make an appointment and were told that the man running the spa is not full time there. He is a journeyman that shows up when he sees fit. All we wanted was a back massage and he didn’t have time for us over a period of 4 days. The Casino smells and the clientele are not all hotel goers. So there are some rough characters that visit at night. My wife was not comfortable walking back across the street to the hotel. The claim that it’s the 4th place to eat is crazy. Unless you like eating at a hot dog stand.
The weather was great and the island area was beautiful but was this place called a resort worth it? NO, I do not recommend this old place. By the way you hotel room door is exposed to any potential criminal that wants to walk right in. No security other than your room key.

Room Tip: Avoid the location unless you get a great deal to good to give up.

Thank you for the opinion on your recent stay here at Carina Bay. Having read your commentary on the hotel, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for notifying us in writing of your observations during your recent stay with us. As a resort dedicated to providing superior customer service, we are continually striving to best serve our customers. When our efforts fail to meet expectations, it is important that the matter be brought to our attention so that it may be corrected as soon as possible.

Let me take this opportunity to address some of the commentary rendered. Housekeeping has one of the highest ratings on our reviews by other guests. Although the doors lock automatically when you close them, every room door has both a dead bolt for added security as well as an eyelet so you can look out if you do not want to just open the door. The Links Miniature Golf Course and Driving Range has been opened every day since just before Christmas. The Fire Dancers can only perform outdoors and are subjected to the changes in the weather. At times, the weather does not allow for the show to go on and we must cancel.

Our four restaurants are the Dockside Restaurant, Starlite Grille, East End Pizza and Carina Café. Each day we offer a different buffet menu for lunch and themed dinners at night. The Rok dinner is a great experience that many guests rave about. We offer a Caribbean Beach Barbecue which is a Western Barbecue with a Caribbean spin. Our menu on that night changes each week however it does have your standard barbecue chicken and pork ribs amongst many other traditional Caribbean dishes such as Kalaloo or Goat Water as well as Stewed Goat or Oxtail. We apologize if this was not conveyed correctly. Carina Café is a Bistro that is open from 11am to 3am to meet any late night cravings. If at any time someone would not like to walk to or from the Casino, he/she can request a ride by alerting someone at Resort Front Desk or a Casino Security Guard.

We do offer Spa services however this is by appointment only and appointments must be made 24 hours in advance. Our massage therapists are only here for appointments and many guests have raved about their treatments. Perhaps you were unaware of this, however, all dining, entertainment and activities information is listed in a Weekly Calendar of Activities given to every guest upon arrival. In addition to that we put out the Divi Melee, which lists the specific Activities for that particular day at breakfast.

Even though you experienced a less than pleasurable stay with us, we sincerely hope that you were able to salvage a few memorable experiences while on St. Croix, and would consider visiting the island once again.

My husband & I & our 17 year old daughter just returned - our room was large & immaculate. Hotel overall was very clean, but looking a little worn around the edges. Beach is gorgeous but sand is not groomed, cigarette butts & bottle caps were strewn about. Food was very good & plentiful but dinners can get a little boring, we ate off site twice. The pizza at East End Pizza on site was yummy. Staff was mostly attentive contrary to some of the reviews we read prior to booking. There were some curmudgeons - but in the minority. Wanda & Sarah at the front desk bent over backward to accommodate our requests for travel arrangements & a wireless router (some rooms have spotty service). Cartesha was our waitress the 1st night & we requested her whenever we dined in the hotel - she was wonderful. Carmen was extremely helpful & patient while trying to plan massages for our family. Massages were excellent & by NY standards, reasonably priced - thanks Mike and Terry! Bartenders, Curt, Scott and Krys were friendly and accommodating. Manager Troy hosts a very enjoyable evening of cultural dancers and Moko Jumbi performers. Other nights offered crab races & fire dancers. Nighttime activities are at the casino, which was fine with us as we were on a rest and relaxation vacation - we appreciated the quiet. Activities are available, shuffleboard, bocci, big chess, kayakings, snorkeling, mini golf. Managers are visible & available - aside from Troy, I spoke with Andreas and another female manager whose name I cannot recall. We will recommend the Divi and visit again someday.

Room Tip: We paid extra for the Premium Beachfront and it was worth every penny. Large, immaculate, well-appo...

My husband and I stay here often as we live in St Thomas and its just a short flight over. We love the grounds and casino. A word to management- PLEASE PLEASE fix the balcony sliding glass doors!! They are extremely hard to open and close! Two years ago I got stuck out on our upper baloney for at least two hours! Because it was a rainy night, nobody was walking the grounds to call for help. It was truly awful!! We have been back a couple of times since then and they have not been fixed. Every room i have stayed in has this problem. I don't dare close the door anymore! We have let people know plenty of times about this issue. Also, last time we visited, the golf cart driver who picked us up from the casino was either drunk or just hated doing his job. This is a dangerous man you have working on your grounds. We let the front desk know and we were not the first to do so. I will give Divi another try though. After about a dozen visits, these were the only two problems we have ever encountered. Beautiful property.

I agree with JCNMD, having just returned, our stay was fantastic. The staff were wonderful and food was great. I took the snorkeling tour with Sean and got the lay of the reef. We saw nurse sharks, baracuda, rays and an abundance of beautiful fish. Being a professional diver, one of the main attractions for me is to be able to explore the reef without having to get out on a boat. I went every day. The staff were always smiling and helpful and very hard working. Buck Island is a must..Absolutely beautiful...
I would go back in a minute....Mike R.

At first blush, St. Croix is the gawky, red-headed, befreckled step-sister of the Virgin Islands. Therein lies its charm. Slower paced, quieter, flatter and less pretentious than other islands, it is the perfect anodyne for the rat-race. Bring your loaded e-reader, lots of sunscreen and prepare to dilute your blood stream with some island rum.
The Divi Carina Bay is dear to my family's heart. The six of us have come to this property in St Croix since 1986 and have spent the last twelve Christmases in its most recent iteration.
Other than owning time-share (which I choose not to exchange), I have no personal or financial interest in the property; yet, this is my third review, all regarding our holiday weeks. For better or worse, I am a fan.
Under the capable, indefatigable leadership of Andreas Conniff, the property has improved every year. I gave it an Excellent five-dot rating this year but even Andreas will admit that progress is only as good as today's experience.
Physically, the resort's condition was only better when it newly re-opened in 2000. Work on the landscaping, the pool which was completely refurbished in October, the restaurants, and the rooms is a daily event. The Divi is a seaside resort; the sea is unforgiving.
Our daughter and son-in-law stayed in a room in the hotel; very comfortable, nicely laid out and appointed, clean and all rooms see and hear the ocean. A microwave and small refrigerator are useful amenities. The sugar-sand beach extends east and west beyond the confines of the hotel and early morning walkers can work off last night's meal. The waters are pristine. And, the southeastern exposure provides a constant refreshment courtesy of the Caribbean trade winds. (During the holidays, the "Christmas winds" pay a visit and wind and kite surfers rejoice; in the summer, sea grass can be an issue.)
Our time share unit - the villas - sits above the hotel a short downhill walk away. The porch provides a refuge for morning coffee as the sun arcs across the southern sky. The time-share units could use an interior decorator's touch as they have become spare over the years but are adequate for the purposes of eating, sleeping and relaxing on the aforementioned porch. I do covet a comfortable chair for the evening's reading.
Andreas has assembled a competent and diligent staff nucleus. Where to start? Ann Downs is the brains behind the time-shares and their exchanges; Sarah of the infectious smile at the front-desk could work for any of us; Edmond is the quintessential bell-captain who knows everyone and everything about the Divi; the Divi has its very own Tommy Star server in the charismatic Marlon Charles. The Tommy Star is the most prestigious award of the hospitality industry in the Virgin Islands. Sean at the beach shack is compulsive in keeping order on the beach; Chris, Curt and Scott behind Big Al's bar are the chemists that make Happy Hour happier; Anne Marie sees thats the towels are refreshed and the room spotless; and, the crew led by Dave and Rashim at the East End Pizza get the award for most improved franchise at the resort.
The dining choices are diverse. There is an all-inclusive option that provides food, drink and water sports without additional charge. Our lunch favorite on the pool patio is the jerk-seasoned salmon Caesar salad. The daily suppers have evolved over the past three years. The popular Caribbean buffet replete with steel drums and mocko jumbies remains along with the Italian and Seafood nights. New are the Star Rok dinner; the diner gets to "cook" his or her entree on a sizzling stone. The Pig Roast is a new beachside event and Meet the Cooks allows foodies to pick the brains of the chefs who create specialties from their home islands.
A caveat. The Divi does not pretend to be a five-star resort. A key to an enjoyable experience is to be patient - it's the islands, mon - and always respectful. Leave the attitude at home. Its an ideal place for families with young kids as the beach is very safe, no riptides and the like.
Its position on the far southeastern point of the island is a mixed blessing; it is private, even isolated. But cabs in St Croix are expensive. It is not a disadvantage to put down some roots for a week. Sweeney's Island Tours can take you around if you must sightsee. If you are staying two weeks, rent a car. The Divi has an arrangement with Centerline Car Rental so that they will drop off and pick up the car at the resort. Duggan's Reef, the Blue Water Cafe, the Southshore Grille and Ziggy's gas-convenience-diner (Eat Here and Get Gas; do try the Cubano) are a short drive away.
Admittedly, I am a fan - of St Croix and the Divi. And I will continue to come back to see how Andreas and his staff are doing. We stay in touch with Ann and Edmond throughout the year. And those famous crab-racers, Tito and Sue. They continue to provide the crustacean competition on Wednesday nights. Pick a crab, grab a rum punch but don't point! Tito has duct-tape and is not afraid to use it.

Room Tip: Third floor on the west wing of the hotel. Further you are from the lobby, the wifi signal fades.
