The Buccaneer was a wonderful location for a beach wedding. My husband and I were just recently married on June 24th. We had a wonderful officiate, Louise Leard, who performed our beach ceremony. She was very personable and the entire ceremony was very relaxed and romantic. We suggest performing a sand ceremony- much like the unity candle. We also had each of our guests bring a seashell to the ceremony to add to our sand. The photographer we had was recommended by the Buccaneer wedding planner. The photographer's name was Thomas. He was pretty good at doing some neat shots but overall he was not very friendly or acccomodating to what we wanted. A word of CAUTION: The award winning wedding planner for The Buccaneer just retired at the end of May. She was wonderful with every detail. Unfortunately, her new replacement is awful. Our wedding was beautiful, but we planned on having a blast at our reception with our 32 other guests...the DJ that was hired (DJ Carl) did not have ANY of the music selections we selected prior to that date. The wedding planner did not bother to tell us this until we were about to walk into our reception- so she told us to sit and wait until the staff ran back to her office to download at least our important songs. She did not know how to even pronounce our last name!
This was a woman who I had spoken with on the phone many times to discuss details for the reception/ceremony and she looked very unprofessional at our rehearsal in front of our guests when she didn't know what was going on. The man in charge of our reception was named Dennis. He is the dining manager. Our reception was supposed to go for three hours- it wound up only be 2 hours for us b/c we had to wait so long for the music. Dennis was not accomodating at all and he was very rude to our guests. He wouldn't budge and let our reception go a little longer! He told our DJ to cut the music at exactly 9:30. ALL RECEPTION live music must end by 10:00- be prepared to move your party into the Terrace.
If you're looking to get married there please DO! Just make sure that you specifically go over details in your wedding contract prior to your arrival. Send pics of what you want for your flowers, bring a CD of songs for your reception, and wear the BUGSPRAY!!! You will love gettting married there. If future brides have questions- I'd be happy to help answer them.
