My husband and I, along with our two college-aged children, wanted to spend a day together exploring the sea life around St Croix. Neither of the kids had sailed before, so we also wanted them to become familiar with sailing. We opted for a full day private charter, and we could not have been happier. Capt Dee and first mate Cole went out of their way to make all of us feel completely comfortable throughout the day. While the day started out a bit windy, Capt Dee is so calm and experienced that we just didn't worry. She explained everything that was going on with the sails and the wind, and then helped the kids learn quite a bit about what it takes to sail a boat. They provided us with snorkeling gear, which was all in excellent shape. Getting in and out of the boat while snorkeling and swimming was so easy, even for a klutz like me, as they have a small platform at the end of the boat. Cole was a fantastic guide at our various snorkeling stops -- he'd suddenly dive down, then pop up to tell us about the various creatures he had found, such as a pair of spiny lobsters hiding under some rocks. Then he helped us to see them up close for ourselves, all the while educating us on safe snorkeling techniques and best ecological practices while on the reef. While we were out seeing some amazing sights, Capt Dee was in the galley preparing an awesome lunch of marinated tuna sandwiches, fresh salad and fruit, and a cool parfait for dessert -- my mouth waters just remembering all the great food! Finally, as we sailed back toward the dock, Cole whipped up some tasty rum punches for us to enjoy. Sitting on the bow of the boat with the setting sun warm on my face, sipping my drink and watching sea turtles pop up to give a wink before diving back into the sea -- well, the trip was a St Croix dream come true!
