Owner description: BIOLUMINESCENT BAY TOURS in the only clear kayaks on St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands and only one of two operators using clear kayaks in the world. Visit our bay at Salt River National Park which is currently being studied by the National Park Service and Dr. Michael Latz of Scripps Institute California. Experience the bay that the scientific community was unaware existed until a year ago and now is being called possibly the best of the six or seven year round bioluminescent bays in the world. Our see through boats are the best way to view this definitely better than swimming through it.

I had read about bio-luminescent bays and couldn't pass up the opportunity to see it for myself. So glad we did. It was the finishing touch to a great 25 yr wedding anniversary vacation. Seeing the micro-organisms and jellyfish glow when disturbed was incredible. It's like something you'd read about in a fairytale. This only happens in a few places in the world. Our guides were not only very informative but made the whole tour a lot of fun. The see thru kayaks add to the experience so you can see the action all around and under you. DO NOT PASS THIS UP! Hubby was reluctant at first but was stunned by the natural phenomenon and has told everyone we know about it. The tour takes just the right length of time, not to short or to long, and is not that physically demanding that you're exhausted upon return. We have plans to return to St. Croix and this is one of the first things we're going to do again.

I loved everything about the experience with Sea-Thru. We chose them just because of the pictures of the kayaks, and ended up making the right decision. The guys have tons of experience and made us novices feel totally comfortable. I actually felt sorry for the other group touring with regular kayaks while we were out. Indescribable bioluminescence!

We had a great time with our knowledgeable, fun guides. The bioluminescence was something I had never seen before and something that everyone should see at least once. And the see-through kayaks made such a difference - it would be such a waste to go in a traditional kayak.

Everyone told us to do the bio-luminescent tour, and boy were they right! We went the night before tropical storm Isaac was supposed to hit and we were nervous about the potential wind and rain, but that side of the island had clear skies that night. Seeing those millions of tiny plants or animals (or whatever plankton is) suddenly glowing when you or the boat touched them was amazing. You stick your hand in the water and swish it around and it looks like you stuck your finger into a nuclear light socket. Words really can't adequately describe it. Being in a clear kayak is the only way to go. You look down between your legs and it looks like the stars right as your are going into warp drive. It would have been worth going even if it had been pouring down rain. Don't miss this one.

We just got back this week from St Croix and this tour was the highlight of our trip. The night we went was perfect. There was a new moon, so it was very dark out and we were able to see the bioluminescence easily. It was a nice easy paddle, so no prior kayaking experience was required. I have two teenagers who throughly enjoyed themselves. I really didn't know about bioluminescence, and Bryce was knowledgable and informative. He even caught, and let us hold a glowing jellyfish. Highly recommend this tour as they are the only ones with a clear kayak. I don't think it would have been as enjoyable in a regular kayak.
