“The Somerset a truly enchanting experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2010

The Somerset on Grace Bay consistently delivers superlative, personal service that has made it my go to resort for business or leisure when I'm in Providenciales. From Warren at the bell-stand to the General Manager the entire staff is very responsive to every request no matter how last minute.

The rooms (more like oversized condos) are the best I have seen anywhere in the Caribbean.

I have stayed in several different rooms in the past two years and they are all very spacious, with luxurious marble floor bathrooms, plasma flat screen TVs and every amenity imaginable.
O'Soleil the main restaurant at the resort is one of the best fine dining options on the island. The Somerset has earned the right to be called one of the best small luxury hotels in the world.

This is was our second fabulous stay at The Somerset, and for us it continues to be the best resort on Grace Bay. We have been vacationing in the Turks for over 15 years, and have stayed at various upscale resorts in the past few years, and find the quality of The Somerset to be outstanding. Both times that we stayed at the Somerset we had suites that were situated in the Stirling Building. The Suites are gorgeous, generous in size and well taken care of. The service at The Somerset is truly exceptional. i would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a luxurious, comfortable, relaxing beach vacation. Its our home away from home.

My wonderful husband recently surprised me with a trip to The Somerset at Grace Bay in beautiful Turks & Caicos. We had a fantastic experience at the intimate, fabulous resort. Our beachfront villa was spectacular, and the service was outstanding. The entire staff could not do enough to make our stay memorable. Karen Whitt, the general manager, and her assistant manager, Scott, Hagen, went out of their way to wish me a happy birthday and make sure every detail was perfect for us. We loved the lovely, healthy continental breakfast as well as the gourmet restaurant, O'Soleil (a wonderful, romantic dining experience). We can't say enough great things about The Somerset and our idyllic vacation. The one thing we can say is for sure, we will be back next year! We highly recommend The Somerset.

The Somerset is really a nice place. We had a 3 bedroom suite with kitchen and washing machine (so useful as we didn't have to take much clothing with us). The suite was always very clean. The cleaning personel would come by twice a day. The kids loved the place . I just wish there would have been more activities organised, like some craft for the kids, or if there would have been a playground or something. There was a movie night but it was a movie that was no interest for kids and it was during supper time !
The personel from the restaurants are so great and so helpful. The concierge was also a huge help to organise our days.
From the hotel you can easily walk to the local market (next to Beaches) and to many other stores . All the people we met were really kind. We will be back !

The resort in general is very nice looking on the outside. All of the units are individually owned and the furniture inside all of the units are different. We stayed in one of the front buildings and the furniture in there was very nice. The English cottages are located in behind the resort and you have to walk up 20 stairs and down 20 stairs to get into the pool area. There are only garden and parking lot views from the cottages. I did not saty in the English cottage but it is a bit out of the way.

We had trouble with the AC, the wireless internet is very poor and not available in all units. When it is working it was at dial up speeds. All three patio doors were broken and we had to call maintenance several times. The hot tub was not working and there was numerous burned out light bulbs in the unit.

Twice we had to call the housekeeping as they did not leave us dish or tea towels when they cleaned the room. We had not checking out and they showed up and started cleaning the unit. When I asked them to wait until we checkout out I got in an argument with the house keeper, she kept saying the front desk told here it was okay to clean. I told her to get out and come back when we checked out. Not very professional.

We ate at the restaurant O'Soliel and the service was terrible, 2 1/2 hours to eat dinner. It was very expensive and the food is terrible. There are lots of great restaurants on the island that are way better and less expensive.

We went to there Lobster fest on the beach. Again it was terrible. We had 4 lobsters one went back because it was burned and one was raw. There is a cook using a BBQ with very little light. They cook 20 or so a t time and then put them on a warming rack.

The bar staff, pool staff, beach staff and the pool restaurant staff were very friendly and they gave very good service.

To top it off I cut my leg in the pool and had to get three stitches at the clinic and that cost $320.

The home owners are currently fighting with the management company who runs the hotel and there seems to be allot of maintenance issues. The hotel rates are thru the roof and there is allot of home owners renting there units out at 50% off on www.vrbo.com

If you are going to stay there I recommend you rent from the home owner directly and save 50%

For accommodations I recommend the Palms or the Grace Bay club, better service and better ambiance. A hidden gem of a restaurant is Las Brias in Chalk Sound

I was part of a large group for a wedding on the property. The grounds are gorgeous and well manicured, the rooms were nice, the food was very tasty, service was ok and the pool was amazing. The one downfall of this property, and this is a big one for me... the property has cockroaches. That is a dealbreaker - gross!
