“Just Perfect!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 17, 2012

We spent the day at Amanyara while in the Turks and Caicos and it is absolutely stunning!

The infinity pool with the three huge sofas surrounding it is the perfect place to spend some quality time and the bar is gorgeous.

We had lunch in the restaurant and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The food was delicious.

Yes it is at the top end of most people's budgets but worth the money!

I can honestly say that this hotel is my idea of heaven on earth. Words cannot describe the beauty of this hotel, or the perfection of their staff, food, drinks, lodging, etc. Expensive, but worth twice as much as the cost. You must visit this resort during your lifetime!

Room Tip: All rooms are great

I can not think of a more special and romantic place to spend an anniversary or honeymoon within just a few hours-flight of the continental U.S. than Amanyara on Turks and Caicos. Since i have been to this island and several other caribbean hot spots quite frequently, I feel i can offer a reasonable Carribean perspective on this resort in comparison to some of the other top end resorts. My wife and i were celebrating our 25th Wedding anniversary. We enjoy Turks and Caicos and this is now our fifth visit to the island and fourth different resort (reviewed elsewhere).
There is so much that they have gotten right with this resort, it is hard to find much to criticize. So let me just review the positives, and then offer a few suggestions or minor criticisms. The place is absolutely beautiful and very remote. The style is a more natural, Asian architecture with boundless open spaces, man-made water pools (only one of which is meant for swimming) the pavillion's are very private with full length glass doors on three sides and no separation between the bathroom area and the bedroom. Our Pavillion was "ocean front" and indeed we could see the beautiful ocean from our Pavillion and i was able to walk down a rocky hill to a very private sandy acove. However, i did not feel an ocean breeze nor could i hear the ocean while sleeping at night (you hear nothing at night the place is so quite). The beds are very comfortable, but maybe a half a degree below the ritz carlton or four seasons. The rooms have a wonderful feature that all high end resorts should include - free stocked fridge and mini-bar (non-alcohol) and free wifi. Nice touch and much appreciated. In addition, our Pavillion was amazingly private and you can comfortably sit outside sans clothing if you so desire. When you leave at night for dinner, just leave the rope blocking the entrance to your pavillion down, when you come back after dinner, your room has been expertly prepared for sleeping. I suspect that there is a phone call from the dinner area to alert the maids. Whatever they are doing, it is perfectly executed and you are left in amazement - this is truly a worry-free stay. The pool area is as spectacular as it appears in the web site photos. The best part, is that it is very quite - like being in a library. I can not get over how quite and peaceful you feel lounging around the pool. There are pool lounges and sofa beds to lie on. The pool lounges are not very comfortable but the sofa beds and couches around the pool area are terrific and almost always available. Unlike many other beach resorts where chairs are often "reserved" with books and magazines for hours before the vacationers actually ocupy the chairs, there was very little of that behavior at this resort and frankly it really isn't necessary in that there are plenty of places to lounge around the pool. You need little cash with you on this vacation. Tipping is not necessary (there is an exhorbitant island wide service fee automatically charged on every transaction), all the meals are charged to your account and you don't even have to wait for your bill, you can leave after your meal at your pleasure. There is no reason to leave the resort once you arrive, besides the drive is rather drab over bumpy, unpaved roads and i absolutely would not recommend driving by yourself out of the resort after dark!!! the roads are not lit at night back to town and it would be easy to get lost, besides, they drive on the wrong side of the road. The food is very good at the resort with a Thai influence - i loved-it but be careful of the Thai spices, mild for them was hot for me!, I recommend when you read the menu, pretend the prices are in pesos, not dollars. it sometimes is a bit hard to swallow the prices but its ultimately such a wonderful and romantic experience that just pay-up (besides you won't really see the final bill to you check-out and by that point you're already in a bad mood because you have to go back to work.
Now just a few very minor criticisms...the ride from the airport is over a road that has speed bumps every 15 feet (only a slight exaggeration). There is an alternate route without speed bumps but the driver is encouraged to take the "scenic" route, which frankly, is not very scenic. So, after you climb into your Range Rover and cover yourself with a soothing, cool towel, ask your driver to take the less scenic route without all the speed bumps. The arrival is amazing, with lots of very friendly people greeting you when your Rover pulls up (your driver has called ahead to alert them of our timely arrival). When i left, it was not quite the same. My driver was just as wonderful and friendly but the women that checked me out and reviewed my bill, was not particularly friendly. I would like to remind these top end resorts that it is nice to have the same warmth and friendliness on departure that we have on arrival. The resort beach and pool lounge chairs are minimalist and for those of us with back problems, they were very uncomfortable. They may fit the minimalist decor of this resort, but they really should be upgraded to match the price tag . They lack cushions and thats a problem for me. Not enough bikes! the bikes were fun when i could find one, which was very rare. easy problem to fix. The pathways are just barren roads with little lighting and a bit treacherous at night. Flashlights are provided but improved understated landscape lighting would be helpful. There are no flowers anywhere, seemed kind of strange. Not sure if anyone else cared but my wife noticed. The landscaping is the exact opposite of the lush irrigated landscape of the One and Only Club on Paradise island . It is very understated with little natural irrigation. It was very dry everywhere but it did go well with the feeling of isolation and privacy. On departure day, if you are travelling on saturday or sunday during a busy period, arrange with Amanyara for VIP service. You will be escorted from your Range Rover, whisked through security into a private airconditioned lounge while you wait for you flight. It is well worth the expense, which is discounted if you are staying at Amanyara. Finally, all high end resorts, especially Amanyara which is clearly designed for couples seeking privacy and romance, must also except the reality that some travellers will insist on bringing their children. This is quite unfortunate at this place because i have never been to as romantic and private a resort that was any less suitable for children. Teen-aged children I guess can enjoy the beach and sailing but you can forget about any romance with all glass pavillions and no bathroom privacy. I am surprised that travel agents or web sites like tripadvisor would give travellers the impression that bringing your child to Amanyara is a good idea.
So, if you are unable to fly across the world to french polynesia, then i would strongly suggest a romantic getaway with your spouse or significant other to Amanyara T& C. It doesn't get much better than this. Just pack light, leave the sunblock, cash, and kids at home. Bring a few books and prepare for romance, rest, and good food (hopefully in that order).

Room Tip: i was only able to see our pavillion which was beachfront and quite beautiful location

This was our 15th anniversary and we wanted a special place that was easy to get to and high end. I'm happy to say that Amanyara delivers big time! From the moment we got into the brand new Land Rover and were greeted at the resort, I do not have a single complaint to offer. You know going in that The prices would be steep but I have to say for the quality of food, the decor, the beautiful room that made you feel like you were the only ones at the resort to the spectacular beach and very attentive staff, this place is the perfect 10! The beach staff, the pool staff, the maintenance staff, housekeeping, the workout facility to the general managers, Everyone serves you with a smile. Its really amazing to see a resort run this way. The food is fantastic with a lot of interesting choices plus the chef will improvise on whatever you choose. If you are looking to skimp at this place, its not going to happen. You pay for high end and you get it. I have been to the island 3 times and there is no question that We will be returning to Amanyara. This place is the best and they deserve every high rating they get. We cannot wait to go back

Room Tip: We had an ocean view pavillion and it was awesome

We chose Turks and Caicos because of the easy flight from Baltimore-and the reviews from Trip Advisor.
We were NOT dissappointed- from them moment we were greeted at the airport in a white Range Rover- escorted to the resort- we were greeted at the main lobby with a refreshing drink. There was a bottle of champagne in our room when we arrived too! The mini bar was stocked everyday(water, beer and sodas and snacks were included)
Everyone at Amanyara was SO nice. The property is breathtaking! I thought we were in another part of the world. I 've traveled all over the Caribbean and around the world and felt like I was in Bali- There is no place in the Caribean that compares.
Our Pavilian was #103 we had our own private pool that was large! The Pavillian was a great location- because it was very close to the main building with the restaurant and bar.
We had breakfast delivered to our room everyday- sat outside- swam in our private pool-
We had lunch everyday at the Beach Restaurant and dinner at the Main Restaurant. The food was great! They also had afternoon tea everyday!
One night they put rose petals on our bed! So thoughtful.
I read some other reviews that commented on the price of the food- it definitely wasn't cheap but worth the whole experience!!!
We also took the yoga classes! AMAZING!!!
Would def. come again!!

Room Tip: Pool pavilion # 103 They also have 2 new pool pavilions

Our visit to the resort over the President's week was nothing short of incredible. The decor, the accomodation and the setting are breathtaking. Our pool pavillion was just perfect and we loved the privacy and slow pace of the resort. The food was outstanding and the service very laid back and friendly. The only complaint is that the pick up at the airport was late and we landed up having to take a taxi to the resort, which the resort picked up the tab for. It is one of the best resorts we have ever been to and would highly recommend it to anyone desiring to unwind and relax.

We spent a few days with friends at a villa. Everything was excellent. The architecture and grounds are beautiful. The service and food are top notch. We spent time on the beach and we kayaked and snorkeled in the clear water which is protected by a reef a few hundred yards offshore. The main resort is stunningly beautiful. The staff are all efficient and friendly.
As an aside, I pay no attention to reviews written by people who have not actually stayed someplace. A single visit to a bar or a restaurant does not qualify one to rate an entire hotel or resort.

Room Tip: Villa experience is the best
