“Excellent night out whilst in Provo”
Review of Thursday Fish Fry

Thursday Fish Fry
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed June 25, 2013

You must go to the Thursday fish fry in you're in Provo - music, dancing, rum punch and lots of fried fish - it does not get better than this. The best part is that it's for locals and tourists so it's a chance to see the real Turks& Caicos!

The Thursday night fish fry was a hit for our family. Local residents gather at Bight Children's Park every Thursday night and enjoy freshly prepared local foods from nearby restaurants. There is live entertainment that will really get you in the swing of the evening. The meal portions are large and by far the least expensive that we had the week we were on vacation at TCI. Arrive early so that you can get a close parking spot...if not you will need to park slightly far down the road.

This is where the locals and tourist all enjoy great sea food and junkanoo, also other Island music, really a nice gathering for all ages and it is 1 minute walk from the beach.

The Fish Fry falls short of what the organisers and the tourist board promote. Some of the food stalls sell good quality food but it all falls down because the venue is temporary, not enough seats, plastic take away containers/paper plates, plastic cutlery or simply a piece of paper towel to eat your food and this is OK at a Fish Fry but VERY DIFFICULT to manage in your hand with nowhere to sit. It's definitely Finger Food then and nowhere to wash your hands and a history of significant recent diarrhoeal outbreak disease on the island. There is some seating but way way too few tables and chairs. The music is loud head banging stuff and the band that played the 2 nights we went were all noise and no tune. (we went back a second time to give it a fair go rather than judge on just one poor experience) This is a great Pity as there are are some really really great bands on Providenciales but it seems you won't hear them at the Fish Fry. Added to this is NO PARKING if you have a rental or your own car you can expect to hike up to around 500m or more. Then you run the risk of your care being 'parked in'. There are a few souvenir tables but the merchandise is way overpriced here compared to the craft shops in town or at other seaside cafes. We could not find a toilet but I was told there is one available!! OK for a one off experience but have a look and go eat at one of the 4 star seaside cafes all along the bay.
