We first went in on a friday night and the parking lot was packed. We were afraid we wouldn't be welcomed by the locals.Everyone was very nice and we had a good time.We came back another evening for burgers and fries ,very good.Same faces at the bar every night, fun time.

“local restaurant”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

Since we did not have a rental car, on our last night, we decided to walk from our resort, Alexandra to try Cactus bar & grill, it appeared to be not too far. It was getting dark, and felt a little sketchy on our walk, but not one problem at all. Nice walk, about 15 mins, when we arrived we didnt know whether to sit down at an outdoor picnic table, or go inside by the bar, so we entered and the girl behind the bar said to sit wherever. When we went outside to grab a table, we were greeted by some men seated already, my husband was really looking forward to trying the ribs, but the server said they were out, and then tried to order mac & cheese according to the other reviews, and they were out of that as well. But we did order, shrimp pasta which was tasty, and cracked conch which my husband really enjoyed. We visited with the waitress, Very low key place, we saw many locals picking food up, but other wise pretty quiet. very reasonable prices. It was after 9pm as we walked back to the resort, also, not one problem. Nice local place to try especially if you are at Alexandra, or Royal Palms, very close by.

“Average at Best”
Reviewed January 31, 2013

It's island food at island speed in a dive. The curry chicken was tasty, but you had to watch out for the bones. The grilled red snapper was very tasty too, and particularly the peppers and vegetables cooked with it, but, again, you really had to be careful to watch for the bones. Of course a whole fish will have bones, but it was a small fish which required more challenge to avoid the bones. The decor is junkyard nouveau. The wait is intolerable. The service is pathetic.

“Great, Local, and Casual!”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

Owners were Gregory and Angela. Super nice and engaging. Peas and rice, fresh avocado, and Scotch Bonnet hot sauce were great compliments to the fresh steamed snapper and jerk chicken breast. Definitely try the Bambarra Reserve. Worth it!

“Authentic excellent food and great service.”

Angela and Greg, the owners, go out of their way to serve you great authentic food. The fish fingers, grouper and jerky chicken were great. This restaurant is a must. Great value.
