“Better condition than Coral Gardens”
Reviewed January 13, 2014

The reef here, near Turtle Cove, is in better condition than what can be seen at Coral Gardens. As stated in my related review, Coral Gardens is good for beginners who need to stay close to a rope. Less people at Bight Reef. For really great reef, take a boat ride out to the deeper water.

“Great for beginners”
Reviewed January 13, 2014

The Coral Gardens reef is excellent for beginner snorkelers in that the reef is encircled by a circular rope that can be easily followed (but not entered, because of the efforts to regenerate the reef). The reef closest to the shore is, as others note, much damaged and bleached: nonetheless, even here, fish can be seen (for example, schools of brightly colored parrot fish). The reef on the deep side of the circular rope is in better condition. Go to Smith's Reef for better reef accessible from the shore.

“Great Snorkeling and Scuba Diving”
Reviewed January 6, 2014

We spent a week at Coral Gardens and snorkeled everyday at this reef. It was great, always lots of fish and other ocean life. We saw many fish, lobster and even a small reef shark. It was never overly crowded with people even though it is considered a "hot spot" for snorkeling. Highly, highly recommend.

“Good Spot for an off beach snorkel”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

We walked down the beach to the reef from our resort. Easy access, you can just wade in. Lots of beautiful fish. Interesting coral. Our 9 year old daughter has recently become a very strong swimmer and really enjoyed the experience. The best part was her telling us how "awesome" it was when she got out of the water. Would recommend this as a great snorkelling experience for all, but especially kids around her age who are just beginning to experience the wonder of the sea.

“good snorkeling spot”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

Good snorkeling spot. Close to beach. But beware the resort located there - DO NOT try to put anything on their chairs, not even for a second.
