If you are staying in Grace Bay this is where you want to snorkel. Booming with fish, sea turtles and a very popular baracudda who is quite curious. This is a must do for any visit to the island.

The roped areas made it easy for anyone to navigate. Even beginner snorkelers. It is pretty rocky from even shallow depths so be careful.

given how many people are snorkeling in this area, you'd think it wouldn't be very good-more crowd than fish, but in fact the snorkeling was great. lots of parrotfish and I even spotted a turtle in the sea grass

We spent some time snorkeling at Bight Reef, and it was definitely worthwhile. Got to see some lobsters, parrot fish, and scenic coral. The only downside was that it was very crowded - Smith's Reef was much better in that regard. But worth checking out!

I can appreciate the island wanting to protect the coral but EVERYONE says to visit the coral gardens reef, I mean EVERYONE but the reef is roped off and you are not allowed to see it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When you ask why they all reccomend it but you can see it, they just say, well it is protected, you can swim around it! What's with that. Total disapointment. You will have to go find your own reefs or pay big bucks for a guided boat package......
