“Beautiful location, beautiful place”
Reviewed September 18, 2011

My hubby and I traveled here in June 2011 for our one-year anniversary/delayed honeymoom. It was truly wonderful. This resort is lovely and so affordable amidst a lot of much more expensive resorts right next door. The beach is heavenly with white powder sand and clear water. The resort's pool is large and has a fun-vibe. Plenty of towels/chairs/pool toys, noodles, etc. The swim up bar is a plus. The water sports gear like snorkel fins, kayaks, etc. were super convenient. A nice perk was the gym but, honestly, it was so basic that was unmotivating to workout there. Running on miles and miles of gorgeous beach was much preferred! It gets hot quickly in June, so you had to run early in the morning. The resort has a basic little spa on the ground level, but it's not fancy or anything. Still, they accomodated my husband and me with a last-minute-scheduled couples massage, and it was fantastic. The staff was helpful and friendly. They even have a shuttle once a day to the grocery store, which is great! For two people, we spend about $110 on groceries and had food for breakfast and lunch for about 5 days, which we enjoyed on our balcony. This saved us a lot of money, as the kitchenette comes well-equipped to prepare some light meals. We even did a load of laundry before we left and came back with clean clothes! The guy who sets up the activities was awesome. (I'm sorry, I can't remember names now). Also, one of the management team showed us another cove about twenty minutes away to snorkel in, which was cool. As a newbie to snorkeling, I forgot to bring a much-needed noodle and he got one for us and cabbed to the cove to bring me a noodle so I wouldn't miss out on the experience. We were flabbergasted at his kindness. He also owns a popular Italian restaurant along the marina that was delicious. If I remember the names, I will update asap.

We ended up cabbing a bit and always getting the same lady, Gloria, who was super sweet. I did not find the cabs to be all that expensive, really. The experience was wonderful and we'll definitely be back to TCI. We would likely want to try another resort when we come again, but we know what to expect at Alexandra and it was just heavenly. The restaurant, by the way, is lively and has a wonderful ocean-side view. The food is great.

Other great restaurants include Hemingway's. Gansevoort had a fun clubby scene at night. The hotel next door - I think it was called Veranda - had an amazing roof-top restaurant. So romantic. We did a snorkel trip with Dream Tours (or something like that) and it was remarkable and fun. Totally worth it! We also snorkeled on our own at Coral Reef & Gardens - memorable and beautiful. My first time snorkeling and I'm so glad I overcame my fears because it was so amazing. Aside from the colorful sealife, we also saw a hammerhead shark and a barracuda over our 6 days there! We wanted to wakeboard one day, but at $200 /hr, we though that was a little pricey.

Weather in mid-June - hot and sunny every day. It rained once for about 30 minutes. It was perfect for sunbathing, snorkeling, watersports, and R & R, which is what we wanted.

I can't wait to go back to TCI! We plan to come back with a few more couples one day.

Room Tip: We chose a partial ocean view that over looked the pool as well. It was delightful. The balcony got...

I first wanted to talk about how great the staff at Alexandra are. My husband and I have been to a number of Carribean islands, and most were friendly, but Turks and Caicos and even more specifically, Alexandra, wins hands down. The bartenders/servers particularly, Mikey, Ramone, Donald, Anderson, Trevor, and Clarence were so sweet, engaging, and helpful...always with a warm smile and asking if they could help. Al, the concierge, was also a great person to work with. Because we came during the quiet season, it was so nice to have the beach to ourselves or almost to ourselves. Depending on the time of the week, if there were new guests in the resort, there would be more people in the pool but ALL were friendly. We met a few very nice people who we hope to keep in touch with. It was the or one of the most laid back vacations I have ever had. The water was like being in a nice warm bathtub. The waves were not big but "bigger" then usual because of recent Irene..though Hurricane Katia and Tropical Storm Maria barely skimmed us. When it rained, it was 10 minutes or less....so refreshing on those hot days. and oh boy!! Does it get hot..They said it was hotter then usual the week we were there from 9/6/-9/15..it was 90-95+ on most days...so being in the pool or ocean was just perfect. We rented a car which helped to get around as typically taxis charged per head (so even if you are going 2 miles down the road...the cost is like $10/head which can get expensive). We loved Clifford, the owner of Barracude Beach Grill, in North Caicos. It was honestly like a living Corona commercial..all of the time.

My only complaint would be that the music they would pipe through into the pool area sometimes was loud and static, and was American popmusic when guests (or at least us) really just wanted to hear some cool, local Carribbean music. Make sure to have the fettucini with shrimp, tomato concasse sauce...it is delish!! and as always...have the rum punch!!
I was soo sad to leave and want to be back there right now!!!!

Room Tip: If you want a full ocean front view, do not stay in the Prima Donna. You get a view of the pool and...

We had a great time at this resort. Strongly recommend ocean front units if possible. Unit was well decorated and comfortable and kitchen had everything we needed. The resort provides a daily shuttle to the IGA grocery store for about $9.00 so we didn't need a car. Resort is well maintained and beach location and amenities are great. We ate in the restaurant many times and it was good. Prices at restaurants on the island were high so great to be able to fix our own breakfast and lunch. Balcony is huge and very relaxing. Nice pool area. This is a laid back resort and very friendly. Our plane was delayed and staff was very accomodating on extending our stay for a few hours beyond normal check out. Recpetion area is not very impressive but firendliness of entire staff on a consistent basis made up for that.

I like to be brief, so:

Beach is perfect. Just a fews steps off the deck. One of very best beaches ever.
Rooms are great. New furniture. No LCD tv.
Restaurant: THE BEST IN PROVO. also you may want to go to Tiki Hut some day at the marina, but staying here is a good option for those who love to eat.
Staff : GREAT.
Alexandra Resort is for those who are looking for a familiar, relaxed place to stay, paying a normal price, and do not need to show-off like they're in hollywood.
I love it.

Room Tip: Lower floors closest to parking lot.

We had a wonderful stay at the Alexandra - it was a big anniversary celebration for my husband and myself. We had an ocenafront room - totally worth the upcharge for us... Beach was beautiful, hotel rooms were spacious and lovely. Kitchen accomodations were very nice - had everything we needed...
We ate breakfast and lunch (and snacks and drinks) mostly in the room... And ate all our dinners out. FOod at the grocery store is VERY expensive - some people mentioned bringing a piece of luggage just for food!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the wonderful Alexandra in August for three nights on a Groupon discount. We had never been to Turks & Caicos before and fell in love with Provo. We were greeted at the hotel with a cool towel and rum punch (yum!). Our room was not ready as we came a few hours before check-in but they took our luggage and said we could have lunch at the Mango Reef restaurant.

Our room was ready before we finished lunch so we went right up after eating. We had a ocean-view 1 bedroom suite, AMAZING! Full kitchen, recently updated with all cookware and silverware. The bathroom was his and hers sinks with stand up shower and full separate tub. We also had another half bath which was a treat. There was also a washer dryer in the unit. The real highlight was the balcony with a table and chairs and two chaise loungers. Sitting out there was a slice of heaven. We always had ample towels and the room was cleaned twice daily; even the bed was turned down which was a nice touch.

The pool was clean, refreshing and we enjoyed the swim up bar. The loungers are all around the pool with free towels for use.The beach was steps away and absolutely gorgeous! The sand is power-fine and the water so clear. It's nice to come off the beach and go right to dinner beachside. There are also tons of restaurants along the beach, so take a walk and enjoy!

We did a half day snorkeling excursion all booked through the resort. All I had to do was call 24hrs in advance and it was done. $89 pp, which included snacks and drinks. We snorkeled in the beautiful waters off the Island and were served conch salad from from freshly caught conch. The tour was a lot of fun and a great way to meet other guests.

In order to cut down on costs, we took advantage of the supermarket shuttle, which leaves at 4:30 daily. It allowed us to make breakfasts and lunch in house and splurge for dinners. Be advised that prices of groceries are almost 2x those on the mainland US, but it's still cheaper than the restaurants.

All the staff was friendly and helpful, and helped to make our stay great.

We went to Turks to celebrate our 25th anniversary but to our suprise Hurricane Irene arrived on our special day.....!
The staff at the Alexandra always kept us informed with letters, voicemail if we were out, moved us from oceanfront rooms to pool view as a precaution, gave us flashlights in case the power went out..and it did. Besides the inconvenience of this hurricane we truly enjoyed our time, the rooms exceeded our expectations ! Sure there are other more glamourous resort, but this was perfect location and on the most beautiful beach.
