“First time and not the last time!”
Reviewed March 5, 2014

We were at OCW from Feb.21-28 and were thoroughly impressed. We had been to Turks & Caicos before, many years ago, at an all-inclusive, but wanted to try condo living in a smaller resort. This resort was all that we hoped for and then some.
We had booked a 1 bedroom deluxe suite and asked for a 3rd floor room since we'd read about the great vaulted ceilings. People have complained about the stairs, but we had no issues - it's actually decent exercise given all the great food we ate!
Having a full kitchen was fantastic. We had all our breakfasts and most lunches on our fully screened in lanai; it was so wonderful to be eating outside but not worrying about bugs or birds.
We also made ourselves a few candlelit gourmet dinners (candles provided by the condo), again sitting outside enjoying the warm Caribbean breezes sans mosquitoes :)
The unit was well equipped with washer, dryer, dishwasher, stove, fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, ice maker, toaster etc. etc. They also provided laundry soap, dish washing liquid and dishwasher powder and TONS of toiletries; hotel size bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion (at least 6 of each), 6 full size bars of soap, plenty of Kleenex and bathroom tissue and so on.
The grounds of the resort are clean and well maintained, as was the pool and beach area. As others have mentioned, there was never an issue finding a lounge chair on the beach. The pool was a bit tougher at certain times of the day, but we always managed to find 2 chairs together.
This is a very compact resort. It is an easy and quick walk to and from the ocean to your room or to the lobby or to the restaurant. It is also very quiet and peaceful. There is no disco or "animacion" like in an all inclusive, but unlike a traditional condo building, there is a great restaurant and bar, a spa, and of course, daily housekeeping. For us, this was the best of both worlds.
We would not hesitate to go back, and honestly, we would seriously consider buying a unit there one day.

Room Tip: We chose a 3rd floor room so that we wouldn't have people upstairs stomping on our heads, but ho...

Despite some mix-up by our travel agent the on site staff worked hard and were able to fix things for us to move to another room. The location is quite central to restaurants - most advise a reservation needed. Cafe Caicos is great French cuisine across the road and the Iron Chef Coyoba restaurant is special - 10 min walk. 'Seven' restaurant is elegant and romantic dining - all under the stars. All these and more within walking distance but resort can arrange a taxi for others - not expensive. The beach here is outstanding and no issues with loungers being available. Long white sandy beach, warm emerald waters. On site restaurant has good food and a bar - nothing fancy - has on-beach bar service. Breakfast by the beach is relaxing and casual (banana pancakes!). Grounds are well kept and fairly quiet all day and night. A clean pool if the beach is not your cup of tea. Good housekeeping service, AC works well and needed for sleeping. They have multi channel cable TV - unless you want to go pubbing not much night time entertainment. Grocery store close by if you want to cook your own food in well equipped kitchen. If you want to just relax and enjoy sunny days and great beach at a reasonably priced condo rental (for this island) its a good option. We are a 'mature' couple and not interested in party noise. Hope we can get back for a third time. Really enjoyed ourselves

Room Tip: Pool facing rooms definitely a must. First room at the back near the road was way too small - no vie...

Just returned from a 6-day stay at Ocean Club West with my family (2 boys, ages 8 & 10), and am longing to go back! We stayed in a 1 BR Garden View unit that had a full kitchen plus a washer/dryer, which was a definite plus. There is a grocery store located appx 1 block away, so very convenient to pick up a few items (or even full meals). The beach is absolutely gorgeous, probably the best I've ever seen. Long expanses of white sand. And the resort has plenty of beach chairs and towels. The pool is also great. Lazy river-style, which my boys enjoyed. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was very good and provided beach and pool service as well. When you stay at Ocean Club West, you also have access to the facilities at Ocean Club East, located down the beach. A shuttle runs back & forth all day. I prefer the location of Ocean Club West, because of the proximity to the grocery store as well as a number of wonderful restaurants, including Caicos Cafe and Coco Bistro. And, most importantly, the FABULOUS Caicos Bakery is located right across the street. I'll be dreaming about the almond croissants for a long time. Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Rooms on the east side of the property border Grace Bay Resort, so are noisier.

We went back to OCW this year (after vacationing a couple of times at The Sands), and the ocean-front suites at OCW win hands down. You feel so close to the ocean, and there is so little noise from the pool and restaurant.

Our suite was in good shape, the furniture was plentiful, the kitchen well-equipped, everything worked, we had plenty of space, even the beds were comfy. For us, the best thing about OCW are the grills: we cook most evenings. There was a "welcome back" bottle of chilled wine waiting for us. The beach, umbrellas, and chairs are still well-maintained, and the kids loved the pool as well as the ocean.

We rented a two-bedroom suite, and had an adult sleeping on the sitting room sofa bed. We also had more family who were staying nearby come to our room each evening for dinner: we comfortably fed 5 kids inside and the 5 adults outside on the balcony. And you can't beat those screened porches. No sandflies or ants in the kitchen this year. We'll be back!

This is our fourth stay at OCW and once again we were happy with this resort. This year we rented a junior suite and were very happy with it. Lots of space on the inside and the screened in balcony is such a treat. The balcony on our unit was about twenty by eight feet. We had all our meals there and did some relaxing out there as well. Overall the OCW was the same great place; right on the beach, beautiful gardens, nice fresh water pool and a decent restaurant.

This year, the island experienced a challenge and the staff of OCW stepped up to the task. The power went out, for the entire island of Provo, at about 2pm on February 9th. Depending on where you were located, the power was out for 18 to 24 hours. The staff at OCW kept the bar open as long as they could and provided us with free bottled water later in the evening. The front desk was working overtime answering people's questions and addressing any concerns. In the morning they were brewing coffee for us using the one circuit they did have on generator backup. Hats off to John and Vanessa at the front desk for a job well done!

We stayed at OCW Jan. 4 - 11 and loved it! Beach was awesome! Always plenty of towels and chairs. We rented a unit thru VRBO and it was great - room was clean and bed was comfy. The whole resort was clean and well maintained. The location is perfect - so easy to walk to the grocery store, the Salt Mills stores, and the bakery across the street (which my husband loved). Kudos to Shaun who greeted us when we arrived and who was so helpful with tips and directions. He was very pleasant to talk to!
We never went in the pool but it looked very clean and was never crowded. We ate at the Seaside Cafe on site twice for breakfast and twice for dinner-food was very good! Loved the Lobster Alfredo!
We loved walking this gorgeous beach! It was fun to stop and have a drink or lunch at another place and just scope things out. (reviewed some of the places we ate separately) Met some nice people along the way too.

We would definitely go back to OCW - we loved it!

This was our 2nd visit to OCW. Last time we had a jr suite and it was perfect. I reserved a jr suite again this year, for a reason never explained we were put in a 1 bedroom. The 1 bedroom is a more expensive option however I didn't like it as well. The balcony is smaller. The bedroom is in the back and had shutters on the windows. So at night your choices are to close everything up and put the AC on or leave shutters open so everyone can see right in. With the jr suite you can leave the sliders open and get a great breeze. The minute we saw the room I asked to be moved. The office staff, which was so friendly at check in, were obviously not happy with my request. All of a sudden I was being treated like a nuisance. I was told we would not be able to move until 2 days later. We went back up only to find the AC wasn't working properly and the ceiling fan in the bedroom was broken. It was very warm in the room. To make a long story short, 4 phone calls to the office, 4 visits by maintenance who told me things were fine and 2 more visits by me to office finally resulted in them replacing the fan the next day. Now I was told they would move us the next day. We were only there for 6 days and we just wasted our entire first day dealing with the office and maintenance. So when day 2 arrived we decided to just stay put and not waste any more vacation time on these issues. However no one ever checked back with us at all regarding the issue. Day 2 had maintenance back again to replace the broken fan. Our unit had other issues: no chaise lounge on the balcony, a toilet that barely flushed (we were told by maintenance that we weren't holding down the handle long enough)-seriously? I think we know how to flush a toilet. We just used the other bathroom instead. The bathtub faucet was semi broken. It took some jiggling and maneuvering to work. The AC never went below 77 but we were told they couldn't look at it because it was new and under warranty. We also had quite a few ants but that is to be expected near the beach. The icing on the cake? On Day 1 when I went back down to the office to discuss the maintenance issues I was told to "go have a drink and the room issues won't bother you".

The good: the location is wonderful, this part of the beach is wide and beautiful. You can walk to the grocery store, shops, restaurants. The housekeeping and wait staff are friendly and attentive. The entire place has a nice laid back atmosphere.

Due to the issues I will look at nearby resorts on our next visit, or perhaps do a private rental at OCW.
Interestingly enough I almost rented from VRBO but I figured if we went through the office any issue could be quickly resolved. Now I see no benefit to rent directly, with VRBO you know what unit you are getting.

I am sorry to hear of your experience. We thought you would be happy with the upgrade, as well as the third level you had requested. In regards to the fan, it was the switch that was repaired the following day. The AC was working properly. I understand that you did not want to move rooms so at this point we believed you were happy with the accommodation.

I understand there are other hotels and booking options. We do not service other rentals; therefore, I am unable to comment. I believe your issues were resolved in a swift manner after the fan switch was reported the night prior. The AC was checked and found to be working properly.

I regret that in the second bath the toilet handle needed to be held down a little longer. The other issues were not brought to our attention and since checked. A chaise lounge is on the balcony. On a positive note, I am happy to hear you enjoy the location and found housekeeping and wait staff to be friendly and attentive.
