This was a great evening. We had been eating at some great restaurants on the island and happened upon Seven (we were there during the slow season and many restaurants were closed so we decided to give Seven a try. Typically we shy away from "hotel" restaurants). This place was different than the other great restaurants on the island (Le Bouchon, Coco Bistro). It was indoors, reserved, very classy and the food was top notch too. I wouldn't miss this restaurant if you have the $$$$$. Try it all, appetizers, wine, dessert and their varied entrees.

Our only issue was our server seemed unfamiliar with serving at this quality a restaurant. He forgot to get a drink that was ordered, couldn't find the pepper grinder and wasn't as attentive as he should have been for this caliber of restaurant. BUT the restaurant manager was there to pick up the slack. When you pay this kind of $$ you want top dollar service to go with it.

One of the best meals we had while visitng the island. From the moment you walk in you know you are in for a treat. The ambience, the service, the food... all top notch. We were warmly greeted and promptly seated inside the dining area. The drinks were very good and we were given an amuse bouche of smoked salmon that was very tasty. We started with the scallop appetizer, then I had ordered the Yellowfin Tuna which was perfectly cooked. We topped the evening with a fantastic chocolate dessert which I could have had 10 more. A wonderful and romantic experience.

I need to split this review into two parts to be fair...

The food was without question the best weve experienced (with the exception of Colliccio and sons in NYC!)

Sadly the service was terrible

We showed up at 6.30pm without a reservation, we were however residents at the Seven Stars resport. We stood in a completely empty restaurant for at least 3 or 4 minutes before eventually a bar tender acknowledged us. Eventually who I believe to be the resturant manager appeared (Englishman) who looked us up and down, asking is to return in an hour to see if he could squeeze us in. We had our 5 year daughter with us who goes to bed at 7.30, so clearly this wasnt going to work for us. He looked around and very reluctantly chose a table in the corner. The whole time we dined the restaurant was no more than 30% full. Whilst the server did a good job, this mans attitude was terrible. I never expect to be looked up and down, he's lucky my family was with me or my choice of words would have reflected my feelings toward his behaviour.

Well done to the chef, a truely wonderful meal but when you are paying $700 a night to stay at a top notch hotel and over $100 per person to eat I expect to be treated with a little respect.

Let me just qualify this review by stating the obvious; this is subjective. We have had the privilege of eating in many restaurants in the world; fantastic high, medium and low end restaurants alike, so we had high expectations for Seven based on the reviews. Some food was very good, some was just ok. For the $230 bill, it was just fine but not stand-out. If you're looking to eat local fair, the only dishes on the menu that have local food are the lobster and red snapper.

Fresh, warm bread is served with an assortment of butters and delicious local salts.

Appetizers:
The lobster ravioli appetizer had 3 pieces. It had a nice tomato, basil topping however the lobster was lost in the taste.

The quail leg was deep fried and it came with an artichoke salad which from an overall perspective was ok. There was, in our opinion, nothing fantastic about the batter it was deep fried in and it's such a small portion that you don't really get to taste much meat. We recognize it's an appetizer, we're just saying!

The soft shell crab tempura was delicious. We would order this again. It had two generous portions of soft shell crab, a yummy aioli to dip in and a very delicious asian type slaw. If you like cilantro and hoison, this dish is for you!

Lobster bisque was delicious and the presentaiton was terrific. This was the overall standout above everything we ate.

Entree:
Red Snapper: Due to an allergy we couldn't have the couscous so they kindly substituted with roasted potatoes and bok choy. The snapper was a generous portion. It was grilled and had a nice crispy, salty skin (not too salty for those watching their sodium!).

Dessert:
We ordered the chocolate fondant based on other reviews saying it was amazing. We think ours may have been forgotten in the oven too long, the fondant wasn't oozing out the way it's supposed to. It was ok, it came with ice cream and two small banana circles.

The service was attentive. We ate inside because it was hot. The gratuity came on the bill at 15%. Overall, we found the meal for the price to be good but not an overall stand-out meal. We have dinner at Coco Bistro on Friday, stay tuned for that review.

Seven was romantic and upscale with delicious food to match. Price is comparable to most other restaurants in Provo. We had mushroom ravioli and Ahi Tuna, both wonderfully prepared. If you go, go for dinner, the restaurant is beautifully lit
