Friends told us that we should go on this underwater tour and it was well worth it! We had no feelings of claustophobia because the submarine is spacious with lots of headroom, and light because of the full views through the large square windows to either side.

We saw four turtles, a school of tuna, lots of colourful fish of numerous species, and good views of the coral reef which seemed to be just below the bottom of the submarine.

Captain Alistair and Hostess Bettty are charming, and it was helpful getting Betty's commentary on the different fish and underwater sea life in general. There were many children on board, and the 45 minute tour appeared to be as interesting to them as it was to us.

We went out at 8am and were treated to a fabulous display of tropical fish around the coral heads at Smiths Reef. We saw green turtles, hawkshead turtles, colorful snapper, parrotfish, wrasse, porcupinefish, butterflyfish barracuda, lionfish, starfish. Betty is very knowledgeable about the different types of fish. I highly recommend this, especially if you are not able to snorkel or scuba dive. We took kids aged 4 and 6, and they loved it. So did we.

We really enjoyed our trip in this very special boat. We are SCUBA divers and I'd had a nasty accident on a dive boat that curtailed our diving - I needed to see the reef again before we came home and, although we thought this would be a bit 'tame' for us decided to go along. We are SO pleased that we did - we enjoyed every moment and although it's not quite the same as being really close up it was a great substitute and we'd do it again! We saw turtles and rays and so many fish! The commentary was great and we felt so safe! Don't forget your camera and be ready for a surprise!

This ws a tour I thought I couldn't do, given the claustrophobia that keeps me from snorkeling or scuba diving as well. A submarine didn't sound like a good place for me. But one after the other, other members of our group staying at Club Med had tried it, and they assured me there's plenty of space in the sub, and I'd be fine. They were right - lots of head room, especially if you're the last one on and seated by the stairs up to the deck. Everyone gets a window seat, with a good view of what's going on on both sides of the sub, and what you see is extraordinary - brightly colored fish hiding in the reef, turtles, skates - and if anyone misses seeing a turtle or skate, the boat circles around for a second chance. Even our companion who had been snorkeling said she'd seen much more from the semi-sub. What a wonderful experience!
