The Sands was a great choice for our family of three: Mom, Dad and 13 year old. We spent one week March 28-April 4. I booked the trip through Costco Travel, and everything went very smoothly. We booked a one bedroom garden view and were given a room on an upper floor as requested. The screened porch was lovely and we ate breakfast on the porch every morning while the gardeners knocked down the coconuts from the nearby trees. The gardens are beautiful and it's fun to watch all the activity in the garden. What we enjoyed most about The Sands was the guest population: families with young children & teens, couples, seniors. It was quiet, relaxed and lovely. We felt safe. The beach was stunning. We took a walk down to Beaches and we were so happy that we were not staying any where near there -- it was like the State Fair!

Snorkeling at Coral Gardens was the highlight of our trip. Dining at Hemingway's was very enjoyable (practically on the beach!) and we saved a bit of $ by having "lunch" at 5:30 pm. We used the tennis court three times and the bicycles once. Great to have those activities available along with SUPs, kayaks, Hobie Cats, snorkel gear and beach chairs & umbrellas.

The only detractions were minor: the pool was a bit cool and murky at times, and occasionally we had trouble finding a chair at the pool.

We really enjoyed lunch at Da Conch Shack. Don't miss Jamaica 50th ice cream at The Patty Place.

The Sands at Grace Bay was perfect for us and we will stay there again if we return to Providenciales.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon here in December. We do travel 3 or 4 times a year and found that this was one of the most relaxing places to be. The room was ok. Some of the furniture could be updated but honestly you are never in your room except to shower and sleep. Love the screen in porch. The grounds are so well maintain and the plants and trees are just lovely. The restaurant on site was awesome ever single time and the beach is right there. The beach love love love, so clean. You can order drinks on the beach. Nobody bothers you to purchase items while your relaxing on the beach like other places we have been. We went to a few different restaurants and never had a bad meal. One of the bell hops who was leaving even drove us one night to a restaurant and would not take a tip. He was so sweet!! We purchased a excursion at the hotel they picked us up at 8:30am right on the beach at our resort with rum runners..doesn't get any better than that. They are on island time as they say so it took me about 2 days to wind down coming from New Jersey we are use to a fast pace life. My husband on the other hand took to it that day. We did rent a car for one day to visit the island. But the hotel has bikes that we would use if we wanted to go shopping. We did go to the store when we first arrive for a case of water, some snacks for the week. The store is a little expensive but so is eating out so I really recommend a trip to the store. We booked a trip back to the Sands in June 2013 and we can't wait!!!

Dear Donnab524,

Thank you kindly for your trip advisor post. We are so happy to hear that you had such a great honeymoon here with us. We know that sometimes coming from New Jersey and other places can be fast and busy because of your daily lives. We at the Sands want to create an atmosphere that have a beautiful memory that you can take and share with others.

The beach here in Turks is one of the best in the world and we do have some of the best staff ever on the island. We are glad you got to see the island and experience the other restaurants.
We do look forward to welcoming you and your husband when you return in June.

Sunny regards,

Our stay at The Sands was more than we expected. The staff was friendly and attentive, providing great suggestions for dining, beaches and reasonable souvenir purchases. I was nicely surprised by gifts from the concierge desk when they found out it was my birthday.

The best suggestion is to rent a car and explore the island on your own. The roads are easy to navigate and there's one main highway, just be careful in the round abouts and "give way" means yield to the cars on the right, they drive on the the left hand side of the road. A trip to Sapodilla Bay is a must. The water is clean and calmer than Grace Bay, it's a bit off the beaten path on the south side of the island. Bugaloos is also on this side of the island in Five Cays.

The best authentic island food was found at Sailing Paradise in Blue Hills, just beyond da Conch Shack on the north side of the island.

The Sands accommodations were superb. The suites are spacious and well equipped with all necessities. The Hobie Cat is a thrilling experience. The food at Hemingways was great and reasonably priced.

We had a great stay at the Sands and an excellent vacation!

Room Tip: Building 4 is a great location, near the beach, pool, Hemingways and parking.

We stayed as a couple @ the Sands at Grace Bay during the first week of December.

Highlights: The grounds are lovely and the pool and beach area are fantastic. The rooms are very large with a kitchen and living room and large balconies...great for families. The restaurant is also delicious and well-priced.

Lowlights: The spa is....odd. It is in the basement of one of the buildings next to the computer room. Makes for a strange experience. Would not recommend, also overpriced for what it is. The rooms are quite outdated, this is what put my rating at 3 stars. Tiny tvs, rickety bed - kind of reminded me of staying in my some grandma's condo in Florida. The free bikes were awful - rusty and busted and only about a half dozen were working.

Side note regarding Turks & Caicos: Walking outside the resort not what I expected. The area is not fully developed and there are not many restaurants in walking distance. Take a car or bike. I recommend Magnolia Wine Bar, the Ganesvoort, Coco Bistro.

Dear nicoler810,

Thank you for your recent feedback regarding your stay dated December 2012. We appreciate the time you took to let us know of your experiences.

Indeed, the pools and beach are wonderful and quite frankly we do have many families and couples visit time and again for this and the many other attributes and amenities offered. You are correct when you say Hemingway’s Restaurant is delicious and well-priced. Hemingway’s is one of the favorites on island for both tourists and locals alike and one of the few that offer beach front dining.

As for your comments on the spa, we actually offer 2 spa treatment rooms on the lower level of the Hospitality Lounge and Fitness Center. Though we do not provide a full-service spa atmosphere, the spa menu is quite lovely and extensive with many treatments available en-suite. For a full-service spa environment we highly recommend the Regent Spa just a 2 minute walk from the hotel to the Regent Palms Resort. The Regent Spa is ranked by World Travel Awards 2012 as "World's Leading Resort Spa" and by Condé Nast Traveler 2012 Readers' Poll Awards #1 Top Resort Spa in the Caribbean.

With regard to the televisions and bicycles, all of our guest rooms have been upgraded and equipped with LCD TV’s since your visit, plus additional bicycles were added to our fleet and are maintained daily. On the bed, we hope that you informed us of your concern during your stay so that we may have had the opportunity to address or correct any issue you may have experienced. If you had not, please let us know and we will immediately look into this. Your comfort is of the utmost importance to us.

On dining/bar establishments including one of them you mentioned, do note that there are at least 25+ within the Grace Bay area alone as well as many fine shops, art galleries and gift stores. Also, we are happy to say 2 newly opened bistros have recently been added.

Again thank you for your feedback and we hope that we may welcome you back to Providenciales.

Sincerely,

Mona Beeson
General Manager

Just returned from a 5 day 4 night get away . Would like to make it a point to commend the front desk staff, Hemmingways staff and just everyone from grounds keepers to bell hops, housekeeping and everyone in between on a wonderful job. We did not meet an individual that was not pleasant. Everyone was smiling and so polite. The grounds are kept so beautiful and it was just an overall wonderful vacation.. this was our 5th time at the Sands and without a doubt, we will be returning again next year. The beach is beautiful, it is in a excellent location, and was the best time yet. We had a beautiful ocean front room (3307) with a massive screened in balcony and stunning views. It seems that even if there are alot of guests, its never overcrowded. We met many nice people at the Sands and I just wanted to be sure to give the staff a review that they so much deserve.

Dear Starryide,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with us as well as your kind words about our staff. Your comments will be shared with our entire team.

We were happy that you found the beach to be beautiful and the view ‘stunning’. As you may know, Grace Bay beach was rated #1 beach on Trip Advisor. You are correct when you say our location is excellent…we are a short distance, walk or bicycle ride from many dining spots and shops as well.

Again thank you for your feedback and continued loyalty to The Sands, we look forward to your return in the near future.

Warm tropical regards,

Barbara Rigby
