In many ways, The Sands is the best place to stay. It is close enough to the action, but sits out on a very peaceful part of the beach and is the best value.

For excitement, Seven Stars & Grace Bay Club are really at the best location. They have the most beach activity and centrally located to the densest grouping of lively restaurants, Infinity Bar, etc. And behind them on the road side are some decent stores, the potcakes puppy rescue/adoption, lemon 2 go coffee, Graceway Gourmet grocery store, and Danny Buoy's Irish pub (if you're into horrendous karaoke from a Minnesota couple). But Seven Stars and Grace Bay Club are twice the price of The Sands. You know you're going to enjoy a night stroll or a beach walk, so save the money and stay at The Sands. And the beach in front of The Sands is actually a better spot to set up your base camp as it is quiet and pristine (though it never really gets that crowded anywhere along the beach). Drawbacks on The Sands are things I don't care about - thin towels (ask for the big ones at the beach), thin walls (don't spend much time in your room unless pregaming), and weak punch (just add your own rum). Pros are the things I do care about - screened porch with ocean views, good pool options open til 11pm, hot tub under the stars, copious free bikes to ride, decent restaurant (Heminways) with bartenders rooting for the Celtics, and great beach spot. If you attempt to save money and book towards the end of Club Med, Royal West Indies, etc. you likely will feel you are at Revere Beach or in the Others Camp on Lost. If price is not a concern, Grace Bay Club & Seven Stars would be the first choice. After Amanyara obviously. But for friends looking for fun, young couples, and families, Sands is just perfect.

As an attractive 38 year old mother in the hot tub said, it's a great place for her and her 9 & 11 year old kids. A kids oriented place like "Beaches" would've been a nightmare for her and her husband, as they are on vacation to get away from that. But The Sands works for everyone.

Room Tip: The studio ocean view was perfect - open floor plan with full kitchen (full size refrigerator, utens...

Building #3 has the best views and if you are planning to host cocktails with a view, suggest you consider #3306. However, many rooms overlook the beach side pool and Hemingways restaurant on the beach. While children friendly, it is not overrun with small ones, like Beaches, a resort to be avoided. The beach is broad, sparsely populated and with roaming servers from Hemingways to be sure you are never without your favorite drink. Staff always pleasant, rooms recently renovated. In all, the best choice and value along this beach front.

Room Tip: Rooms near the beach front pool suffer a little from party noise, but if you are a partier, just joi...

Dear BayHeadTravelinBear,

We would like to thank you for your kind review. The property caters to everyone. We are family oriented, but at the same time if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful relaxing vacation to celebrate your honeymoon or anniversary, The Sands have all the qualities.

Yes, Hemingway's Restaurant does provide a service on our beach which allows our guest to relax and enjoy themselves more and not have to leave the "best seat in the house" to get order a drink.

We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Kind regards,
Lidra Barranco

My husband and I came to The Sands on our honeymoon and had a great time! We stayed in an ocean view one bedroom, and it was huge! It was decorated very nice and comfortable. It is more beach style than glamorous. We had a beautiful view. What i liked best about the resort is that it is smaller than most, so the beach, pool, and resturant were never very crowed. There were always chairs by the pool and umbrellas to lay under on the beach. The staff was very nice and helpful. My only complaint is that we arrived before the 3pm check in time and our room wasn't ready yet, but that's our fault thinking we could get in early without calling ahead.. If you are arriving before 3pm i would call and request early check in because it seems they have a very hard 3pm checkin in time. Overall we had a great time, I would recommend the sands to anyone who wants a nice relaxing vacation.

Room Tip: I would definitely chose an ocean view or ocean front room, it is definitely worth the extra money...

My husband and I just returned from Turks and Caicos. We stayed at Sands at Grace Bay. We really enjoyed the beach at Sands. It was our opinion that Sands had the best location/beach out of all of the beachfront resorts on Grace Bay. We really liked our accommodation. Our room was much like a condo with a full kitchen. We really enjoyed being able to cook meals at home. Also, the rooms were cleaned really well everyday. The resort overall was tidy and well-kept. While we loved the beach, we thought the customer service at the resort was lacking. People at the front desk, beach attendants, maids, and servers at Hemingway's (the one restaurant on the resort) were hit-or-miss. Sometimes people were friendly and other times the workers bordered on rude. We ate dinner a few nights at some nearby resorts and found the other resorts were friendlier towards us than Sands at Grace Bay. Friendly customer service goes a long way! The other thing travelers should be aware of is the resort is kid-friendly. If you're looking for an adult only resort, then Sands at Grace Bay would not be a good choice. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and had a wonderful week relaxing on the beach.

Dear A W,

Thank you for choosing the Sands at Grace Bay as your vacation destination.

We are delighted to know that overall your stay was an excellent one and that you found the location, beach as well as the room design and cleanliness very satisfying. We were sorry to learn that you experienced some disappointment with the service and staff friendliness.

We usually take great pride in the services and friendliness we offer and regret your experience was not in our typical fashion. We are usually known for how warm and friendly our staff is and our genuine Caribbean hospitality. We have shared your comments with the appropriate managers and staff so that we may have the opportunity to prevent future occurrences.

Thank you for your feedback it is because of caring guests such as yourself that we have a concrete basis of improvement.

My boyfriend and I met my family here for a destination Christmas and had a great stay. The pool and watersport activities were great for my niece and nephews but I mainly enjoyed the pool/beach side drink service. What's particularly nice about the beach for this property is that it's in between two sand dune preserves which means that there's lots of room for guest to spread out beachside instead of being packed in like sardines like we saw walking past many other resorts. The rooms were up to date and well furnished; I was in a studio which was perfect for me but my parent had a one bedroom with a full kitchen - cooking is definitely a good idea given the prices at most of the restaurants on the island. The restaurant here was actually one of the more reasonably priced ones and had a wonderful view/atmosphere.

It's easy to see why Grace Bay Beach is one of the best in the world.
The pristine beach and the people are just incredible.
The Sands is in a great location, has everything you need and the staff is just wonderful.
We had a terrific time with all the water sports, the food and the atmosphere.
It is truly a paradise in every sense of the word.
Caicos Dream Tours has a snorkel trip that is certainly worth taking.
Thanks to the entire staff there that made the holiday a memorable one.

My husband and I stayed at the Sands for 8 nights in mid-December in a one bedroom garden view. We were upgraded from a gardenview studio so I was thrilled when we were shown into our spacious corner unit. Now we won't be able to book a gardenview studio when we go back. And we ARE going back. After travelling to many places and to some of the world's best beaches we found everything we've looked for in one spot - and close to home too, well only a few short hours away. Here's a list of the pros and cons of staying at the Sands, which as you can see from our 5 star rating, there's not much to complain about!

Things we loved:

Accommodation
. Large screened-in patio, loads of room, had breakfast there every morning.
. Bathroom just redone, great shower, nice toiletries.
. Great kitchen with everything you need.
. TV in bedroom as well as living room.
. Washer and dryer.

Grounds
. Beautifully landscaped and looked after.
. Pools weren't too cold to swim in.

Beach
. Is there any beach better than this anywhere??!! Rainbows to the right almost every day, stunning sunsets to the left, white sand, turquoise water, a picture everywhere.
. Lots of palapas to choose from and at this time of year not much of a problem to find a vacant one. The odd time they were full staff would set up a couple of beach chairs and umbrella for you (tipping not mandatory but appreciated).

Restaurant
. Hemingway's - fish tacos, deep fried ice cream, etc., etc. - fantastic spot to sit and eat, drink or listen to music and you don't even have to leave the resort.
. Great to have beach service for drinks or lunch when you just can't turn your back on that turquoise view in front of you.

Staff
. Friendly and helpful staff on the front desk - thank you in particular to Priscilla!

Manager's cocktail reception
. Weekly reception makes a wonderful lead-up to dinner with appetizers, beer and rum punch - and a nice touch to have the Manager walk around with staff to introduce themselves to guests.

General
. Close enough to walk to lots of other beachfront restaurants as well as The Saltmills and Ports of Call shopping areas and Graceway Gourmet (as long as you didn't have too many groceries to carry back)

Potential cons:

Accommodation
. Loud noise from people walking overhead on the tile floors - this only happened a few times during the week but could be annoying if it happened more frequently.
. Noises from adjacent unit - we could hear the blow dryer in the bathroom next door - soundproofing could be better.

Those were the only 2 negatives the entire week and they wouldn't be enough to dissuade us from staying here again. Sooooo many positives to outweigh these.

During our stay we ate at Hemingway's, Bay Bistro, Somewhere on the Beach, Danny Buoy's, Las Brisas, Da Conch Shack, Sharkbite - I'll do reviews in the next couple of days.

Room Tip: Not sure I'd want to stay in a courtyard studio. While a few of the locations looked all right...
