“We loved it!”

Resort was small enough to feel homey but large enough to have everything you needed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Beach was fantastic with beautiful sand beach. Lots of chairs and umbrellas. Ran out of towels regularly.
Unit was comfortable and clean with a little kitchenette that was great for drinks and snacks.
Only problem for me were the no-see-umps seemed to really like me and I had several bites. Not resort's fault.
Food very expensive in Turks and Caicos- both in restaurants and grocery store.
Wonderful snorkelling.

Room Tip: We were in a beach view in building 2. It was quiet and had a lovely view of the water.

My wife and I stayed here and these are our thoughts with T&C in general and Royal West Indies. Bottom line in was beautiful hands down.

T&C Grace bay area where we were near, everything is very expensive! For food places I used trip advisor a lot, dinner at a nice place averaged 80$ a person. We quickly found Graceway Gourmet market like everyone else. We decided to drink very little, drinks ran about 10-16$ a drink. 6 packs of beer at the store were around16$ you get it.

Royal Indies Resort has 2 nice pools and the grounds are very nicely maintained. Beach access is easy like all other resorts chairs, umbrellas and towels are at the beach. On arrival room was ready and nice very clean. We had a studio had small kitchen area and stacked washed and dryer. Kitchen area came in handy after we ate out a few times.

The price was cheaper then the other resorts left and right of us but they had more things maybe geared more towards younger families? RWI if you have no kids or very young kids this place is fine. The front desk could arrange activities like fishing, scuba diving, boating if your kids need to be active (not sun bathing).

The onsite bar restaurant was nice called The Pelican I wrote a review early in my stay but thinking back that restaurant feel victim to my first review it wasn't bad at all and price was like everywhere else.

Last, a few things we would have like to have had here. And bigger lobby to congregate at, water cooler at beach were they hand out towels other resorts had that. A work area they advertise they have a place in town buts its 30$ a person a day, small convenience store for snacks, water, etc.

The "town" is a mile from RWI my wife and I walked there many times both day and night. The Taxi ride ran 10$ one way we only used it once. Taxis are very easy to get I think every islander's iPhone has it preprogrammed.

These are all minor things and are stay was enjoyable. Staff was very friendly anytime we asked for something they made sure we were taken care of.

Good luck finding a place!

We stayed at the Royal West Indies for 4 nights in November 2013, booking through a JetBlue Getaways package. The resort is on Grace Bay towards the end of a strip of large hotels, but managed to feel somewhat secluded and quaint. There are multiple buildings on the property and we happened to be in the one closest to the beach(Residence #2), which was great; I would imagine it might have been disappointing to stay in one of the other residences that would've required a longer walk to the beach and towel guy.

The bar is great, and offers 2-for-1 happy hour from 5-7pm, which we took full advantage of with the help of our favorite bartender Mario. All of the other guests and residents(these are condos, so there are owners who stay year-round), we very friendly, and made our trip that much more enjoyable. There's no reason to be unhappy in paradise...

The resort also offers free usage of snorkeling equipment, kayaks, hobbie crafts, and bikes. The bikes came in really handy for a trip to stock up on water and food at the supermarket which is just up the road, and trips to town. Overall, I'd highly recommend staying here!

My husband and I stayed here (Room 211 The Queen Anne suite through VRBO) from 11/16-11/21. We had to cut our trip short due to a situation back home, but the time spent here was very nice. This actual unit was superb. It was so clean and had every amenity that you could need.It was decorated beautifully and the furniture was top notch. The bed was so incredibly comfortable. The resort itself is not very large which makes it easier to become familiar with. You can rent bikes for a two hour limit which is quite fun.We did rent a car( Grace Bay Car Rentals---great choice) which helped us get around everywhere and was cheaper than getting taxis daily. The grounds are impeccably kept and every single employee was friendly and helpful. The wonderful woman in charge of the landscaping was Hazel and when I tell you meeting her was a highlight, it truly was. She was a gem.She has friends in Pittsburgh for life. The bar and restaurant seemed to be quite busy all throughout the day. The beach is amazing, The water was unbelievable and the sand is just like powder. The island itself is quite expensive. While we were there we ate at Jimmys Dive Bar (good jerk wrap), Sharkbite (amazing grouper sandwich--ate here twice), Bella Luna (my favorite, authethentically Italian, pizzeria was incredible), Coco Bistro (great meal, wonderful experience), Caicos Cafe (not bad, good desserts), Smokeys (stay away, seriously stay away.), Mr. Groupers (great lunch). Pizza Pizza (good delivered pizza) We did shop for some groceries at the Graceway Gourmet, but once again the prices were crazy. This island offered for us relaxation and great dining primarily. Being from Pittsburgh we had a bit of a hard time adjusting to island time and the slower pace of everybody, but we adjusted as best we could. We took a look at some other resorts while biking and can honestly say that The Royal West Indies is just as nice as any of the others and may offer a better value. I would recommend this resort to anyone in a heartbeat.

Turks and Caicos is a wonderful sun and water destination. Fine white sand beach and crystal clear, warm, turquoise waters with lots of water based activities available. It is, however, a pricey destination as most things must be imported. Relative to many of the other resorts/condhotels on the island, the Royal West Indies makes TCI a more affordable option. It is located on the far perimeter of the Grace Bay Village shopping area with its very well stocked grocery store, French bakery, restaurants and substantial shopping choices (including duty free). The grounds are lush and meticulously maintained. The staff very professional and warm. While suites could not be described as reflecting cutting edge , contemporary design, we found our suite (including the very handy kitchen facilities) to be well planned and furnished, spacious, sufficiently modern and spotlessly clean. The pools were very well maintained and, during our week long stay at least, never crowded. Only once was I unable to find a lounge chair. Beach staff are available to ensure that guests have lounge chairs and umbrellas. On most days, food and drinks were also available at the beach.
The Royal West Indies has a very relaxed, 'get away from it all' feel. No one is moving quickly. Guests are enjoying the sun, the water, a book, a cocktail, conversations with fellow guests and gorgeous sunsets. All in the midst of beautiful tropical plants, flowers and butterflies.
If there are negatives, those who want to stay connected at all times will find the WIFI frustrating. In our unit, it worked in the living room area but not the bedroom and access around the grounds was similarly unpredictable. Also, although we did not find it bothersome at all, there is a Club Med next door and, as you might expect, it is a much more active and party oriented resort with the sounds occasionally traveling. And if stairs are an issue, be sure to ask for a ground floor unit.
If you go, consider renting a car. Not because you'll be unable to walk to 'town' but because taxis are expensive and the island does offer lots of interesting restaurants and sightseeing opportunities a little farther afield.

Room Tip: The resort is laid out on a rectangular strip of property perpendicular to the beach. There are few...

Just came back from several days at RWI....what a great place and a great location. This was the first time we had stayed in TCI and we are thrilled that we chose this hotel. It was very quiet, great beach and the rooms were clean. The only negative, which is minor is that some of the staff was great, very friendly and helpful and others were not so much. It was funny there was nothing in between! Not a big deal but has to be mentioned. Otherwise I highly recommend this place and I will be coming back!

Room Tip: best value is the second floor rooms, they all have some type of view
