First off this was not the most expensive place so we did not have high expectations, however there were so many great reviews that we booked it and we are glad we did! Don't pay any attention to bad reviews please! We booked a 2 bedroom 2 bath suite.
The price was right for 4 adults and 2 year old. Ok, where do I begin....
We have stayed in fancy all inclusives before and have been to Other places in carribean, but this place takes the prize! This resort is in the best location along Grace Bay!!! Peaceful and not over crowded.
From the second we pulled into the parking lot and Fabian greeted us with an island smile and offered his assistance and even some island punch we knew we were in the right place. EVERYONE was so welcoming and made us feel at home.....they made us feel special and is one of the big reasons we will return!
Not to mention that the room was SPOTLESS thanks to Hazlin! The beds were the most comfortable beds we ever slept on away from home perfectly comfy.
The FOOD was the best we had on island and the prices were not bad considering the area.
Can't believe people complain about prices..... Keep in mind almost everything has to be imported! Linil the restaurant manager does an absolutely amazing job making sure everyone is taken care of and always made it a point to recognize us and his guests....his bartenders and wait staff followed in his footsteps and also went out of there way to make you feel special! I don't recall all names but Lex always took care of us along with Stacey. Thank you all for making our stay amazing!!! We will be back!

Turks and Caicos!!!! We loved it!!!

You will find lots of great info for planning your next trip - not just a review of the hotel.

Stayed at the Royal West Indies Resort. Our room #311 was like a dark cave, bright in our bedroom which didn’t make sleeping in easy. It smelled a little moldy and the bed was hard. I read later that you can ask for foam to be added to your bed. We have stayed at similar places in the Caribbean and so it wasn’t unexpected but just a decent place. Our friends paid a little more for an upgraded room on the top floor #431 and it was a great view especially compared to ours with no view. However there were not many units with the great view so caution that you might get a top room that has a better view but not necessarily of the beach. The food and drinks here were good but can be pricy. Advise going to the grocery store to stock up and treat yourself to dinners out! There are a few grocery stores, one near the hotel and others along your way driving around, we went to Graceway. Recommend you buy bottled water and unfortunately you usually have to pay for it if you go out to dinner but your stomach will probably thank you – I don’t think its required

We renting a car (Avis) here is easy, cheaper than a cab everywhere, and convenient. It made going to the grocery and alcohol store easy and saved us money. Be advised that if you have four people like we did it was almost impossible to fit in their small car with 4 suitcases. It was comical as three suitcases stacked on half of the back seat and I sat in my husband’s lap just to get to the hotel (thankfully not too far away). If the airport doesn’t have a rental car ask one of the companies to bring you one from in town at no additional cost. The roads here are good and safe. We didn’t stay outside the main area because we were worried about parking as some other review stated but now having been there I would totally do it! There is a little shopping but not all that much around.

We went to several restaurants and here is our ranking:
#1: Coco Bistro #2: Tiki Hut #3: Conch Shack #4: Mango Reef #5: Pelican Bay ( Royal West Indies Resort) #6: Krave Grace Bay Club #7 Lemon Café #8 Hemmingway’s (desert)

#1: Coco Bistro – Best place to eat and highly recommended on tripadvisor and yelp. The atmosphere here is perfection – romantic, laid back, tropical. First trip I got their tuna sashimi and my husband got the rib steak and both were amazing! We each ordered ice-cream (sorbet) I think I got the coconut and he got the strawberry which were so refreshing. We went here a second time after our first experience was phenomenal! Grilled tuna was perfection and a shrimp special was decadent with tempura banana desert for me and ice cream for my husband we were both in heaven! Our friends got other meals and also loved them, can’t remember what exactly they were but I had a bite too and everything was fantastic! Even the music was great – the owner picks it himself and wish we could buy a CD!

#2: Tiki Hut – The Fish sandwich Grouper $14 was to die for and mu husband loved the fish taco’s $15. This was an inexpensive place to eat great food! Highly recommended

#3: Da Conch Shack – Amazing views, great place for some beach pictures, shade from palm trees, worth the wait if you have any especially since it right on the beach. We went here for lunch and it was awesome! I had grouper and it was so mouthwatering and delicious! This is great place for local fresh food. Would have gone here again!!! A must go!

4: Mango Reef – The grouper here was fantastic!!! We ordered 2 Bushwackers and if you haven’t had them they are fantastic! The conch fritters were good too. Great place to eat!

#5: Pelican Bay ( Royal West Indies Resort) – Jerk Chicken was great but conch fritters were just ok (we have lots of places to compare them to)

#6: Krave Grace Bay Club – I cant remember what we ate but it was good, nothing fantastic. You do get to eat just off of the beach and it was very relaxing. Many other places that are much more worth your time but not bad

#7 Lemon Café – great atmosphere with some interesting drinks and food which was good but not anything great for any of us.

#8 Hemmingway’s (desert) - we wanted to go here but wanted to visit some other restaurants so we went for desert and we were not impressed. We split cheesecake and their belly warmer which is ia bailey’s coffee drink. It was our least favorite.

Sand Castle is a convenience store just down the street. Good prices: Turks Head Beer $2.29 each, Crown royal 1 lit $45.
Groceries are expensive but not as expensive as eating out. Ex: 2 liter coke was $4 There are a few grocery stores, one near the hotel and others along your way driving around, we went to Graceway. Recommend you buy bottled water and unfortunately you usually have to pay for it if you go out to dinner but your stomach will probably thank you – I don’t think its required

Ialand Vibes – the best day tour we have been on! They do mostly half day tours and the owner says that’s what most people want but we love day trips and adventures way better! Spike and Chico took great care of us! They make their drinks the way you like them – great! The lunch we had on a beach was fantastic! They really take care of you and make sure you have a great time! The owner loves what he does and it shows. If you only have time or money for one thing this is it! There were even kids on the boat so make it a family event or enjoy yourself it it’s just you and your loved one! The snorkeling they do was almost as good as the diving I did! We saw nurse sharks. Best trip!

Dive Provo – my friend and I had not been diving in a while so we took their refresher course too. They pick you up from your hotel and bring you to a pool near their dive shop. Friendly instructor and staff. You don’t usually get to pick where you dive but if you go more than once they typically take you to a different location. They have lots of divers so there are definitely a few boats that go out almost every day. We were taken to Grace Bay and it was pretty good but almost the same as the snorkeling I did for much cheaper. For the cost I enjoyed snorkeling more but if you are an avid diver this is a great company. I rented an underwater camera which was pretty new (I own the same one) and it worked well for a great price!

A great place to visit!!!

We booked a 1BDR it was perfect for us and our 13 yr old son who used the pull out in living area. the rooms were very clean and kept up. Yes, we also had the same issues as others regarding towels only ours was they would leave 2 and there was 3 of us. The dishes would be put in dishwasher while we were away. We were in a unit right across from the pool/bar area. It was fun to sit on our porch area and listen to all the live music, or join at the bar for happy hour each evening to try a new cocktail. Tip: my favorite is Crazy Monkey's. The bartenders were great entertainment and conversationalists as well. The bikes to rent for the grocery shopping were fun to use as well. The Pelican Bay hamburgers were very good. The steak dinner was also very nice. My husband had the seafood and enjoyed it as well. It was a quiet resort and we enjoyed it very much. We plan to go again. We did use the kayak one day, but we were there to dive. The days we were not off diving , we were in the lounge chairs on the beach.

Room Tip: We had no issues with a ground floor room with a garden view. I think any room there would be withou...

We just returned from a 7 night stay at RWI and had a wonderful time. The resort is small (in a good way) and beautifully landscaped. We me the lady in charge of landscape design and you can tell she puts her heart and soul into making it special.

We stayed at an ocean view studio. The view was worth the upgrade. We were building 5, room 533. It wasn't a huge view of the ocean but it was there. We sat out on the balcony each night and watched the sun set sipping on wine.

Good points -
- The resort is conveniently located along a beautiful stretch of beach on Grace Bay
- It's a 15 minute walk to town (grocery store), bikes are available on 1st come first serve, but beware, some are rickety. My husbands basket fell off coming back from the store. Make sure you check your basket before you take it out if you're grocery shopping, especially with the cost of everything. Some guy walking saved our beloved Pringles from getting crushed by a car!
- There are plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas. If it's full, they will pull more just for you.
- The restaurant on site is pretty good. I liked their organic chicken dish, filet and conch fritters.
- The beach, the beach, the beach!!!! It's not crowded, so you can relax.
- Excursions: We went snorkeling - it was okay. They took us to 3 reefs, the water was very rough so it was a little scary because you want to make sure you don't drift over the reefs and hurt yourself.
- Go rent mopeds / Vespa's from Paradise Scooter. They were terrific. They offer tours around the island and allow you to take them out yourself for 24 hours. Very affordable and very worth it. We rented two Vespas and got to see pretty much all of Provo. Definitely get to Chalk Sound (heaven on earth), Turtle Bay (wow- an amazing beach), and Bugaloo's (local restaurant with fresh conch!).
- Offsite restaurants: Caicos Cafe was really good. We ate there 3x because it was so good and close to the hotel. Everyone raves about Coco Bistro which is really close to RWI, but it is really popular. If you want to try this, call them right when you get settled and book a night. Otherwise, your option will be to dine there at 9:30 which is too late for me.

Improvement / Gripes
- The front desk folks are not too friendly - we carted our luggage to our room once we arrived and they barely told us how to get to our room. ps- there is no elevator, but it's only 3 floors (forewarning for parents traveling with kids).
- The cost of everything - T&C is an expensive island. Be prepared to pay double on everything. Once you overcome price, enjoy yourself! T&C is definitely heaven on earth.
- It's low key at night so if you're looking for a party you won't find it here. They do have a singer at night that's nice to enjoy.

The second time my wife and I stayed at the Royal West Indies. We will go back again. It is a small quiet place, not like to big mega resorts. The Pelican Bay restaurant was just a few steps from our room. The food was good, not great. The meals were not expensive for the island. The only problem that we encountered were the lack of bath towels! Twice afer the room was cleaned, the towel rack was empty. A call down to the front desk was necessary. The grounds were well kept.. The washer and dryer combo in the suite was nice.

After 3 nights at Beaches we were so happy to get to RWI and have the quiet of a small resort. We booked a 1 BR for our family of 4 and were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a 2 BR 2 bath with a huge balcony. There was no OV (well a sliver over those palm trees!) but the extra room was much more appreciated. We took the ancient (but working!) bikes to the local grocery and bought our breakfasts and lunches which was a huge savings. Pools were beautiful but the chlorine content was so high it was tough to use them. But who needs a pool when the beach is right there and is just so spectacular. Towels are available and the pool and beach guys get you chairs and an umbrella, very helpful. We used both the kayak and the Hobie Cat (there is only one). The grounds are immaculate. The resort is very quiet.
The room was well kept and had everything we needed. One small thing missing was a broom to keep the sand swept up! Great to have the small washer and dryer so we came home with less sand and dirt over all. One strange thing ... we did try to hang our towels for reuse but the housekeeping staff took them all away and didn't give us any. We had to ask for a new set of towels but then we got more the next day.
We were able to walk to several restaurants using the beach --- such a lovely walk back in the moonlight!

RWI on beautiful Grace Bay is excellent value for the money. The setting is idyllic and the grounds are gorgeous. It's kept spotless and is great for couples. The suites have everything you need. However, the Pelican Bay restaurant offers mediocre fare at high cost. Nearby restaurants offered much higher quality food and variety at less cost. Breakfast is particularly poor and outrageously priced. Secondly, we did not find the staff at RWI helpful or friendly. Smiles seemed forced, and dragging information out of anyone or engaging them in discussion was a chore. Finally, the bikes available for patron use were junk. They were an embarrassment! Other resorts branded with smart looking, quality bikes. RWI's appear to have been purchased second hand in Havana.
