My husband and I have just returned from our honeymoon to Providenciales and stayed at Ocean Club East. We had a truly relaxing time staying in a one bedroom apartment with a spectacular view of one of the world's most beautiful beaches...Grace Bay. Right from our arrival the staff was extremely pleasant, including a fun golf cart ride to our room with Andrew Jackson. Since it was low season it was always easy to get an umbrella, loungers and chairs right in the first row on the beach. This property has two pools and typically we used the one at the front since it was perfect for a dip right after the ocean. On the Monday night there was a rum punch party where there were free appetizers and a chance to mingle with other hotel guests if you wanted. We did not participate in any of the water sports, but if you wanted to you could choose to rent a Hobie cat, kayaks or paddle board right from "Abuv-it all". We took our own snorkeling gear and enjoyed snorkeling right off the resort's shore. In fact, on our last morning in Provo we saw three starfishes not too far out and snorkeled all the way down to the end of the beach (more deserted) where there was a fabulous collection of fish.
In order to keep to our budget we made a few trips to Graceway Gourmet (grocery store). The hotel shuttle can drop you off at OC West and it's a 5 minute walk (or bike). We bought things for breakfast and lunch and a bottle of wine (reasonably priced $11). We did not buy any beer as a six pack is $59+. We really enjoyed the Turks Head Lager (local beer) a few of our dinners.
Beaches/Places to check out:
We used the complimentary bikes to go to the HOLE (naturally formed limestone 40 foot hole). It was about a 5 mile round trip bike trip, but the bikes were very basic, so you must be fairly fit as there are a few hill climbs.
We rented a car for one of the days and made our way down to Malcolm's beach, the first landing place of Christopher Columbus. The road is not paved, but it is worth the drive and once you arrive you will feel as if you are the only ones there. So unspoiled! Way down to the left is the exclusive Amanyara Resort. We took our snorkeling gear, but it was very rocky and didn't have rock shoes so didn't want to risk it.
After Malcolm's Beach we headed to the Chalk Sound. We didn't make it down to the sound, but just by driving down and pulling off on the side of the road you could see the sparkling aqua waters. Also stunning some of the mansions along that road!
Also worth venturing to Taylor Bay as you can walk way out into the bay without getting deep very quickly...a unique experience!
Restaurants: We ate at the beach cabana & grill right on the property a few of the nights because our server (Jamana-spelling?) was such a friendly lady and the food was excellent.
Opus: Fine dining at OC east. Probably our most expensive dinners, but definitely worth every penny and an unforgettable dinner, with live band under the stars and trees.
Seaside Cafe: One can take the hotel shuttle (free) to this restaurant at OC West. Also right on the beach with a beautiful view of the setting sun! Also excellent service and I enjoyed a tasty grilled snapper with jasmine rice.
Upstairs: Deliciously grilled vegetable salads and pizzas, reasonably priced (compared to other restaurants on the island) and easy to get to. Just across the road from the OC West, so you can take the shuttle and if you get there at a decent time in the evening some of the shops in the plaza might be open (mostly expensive souvenirs). I bought some postcards, but that was all since everything was so $$$$.
Horse-Eye Jack's: On the day that we rented the car we stopped here for lunch along the beach. Refreshing Caribbean breeze and freshly grilled chicken sandwich. Again beware: rum punch=$15!
What we most liked about OC was that it was not a pretentious resort and we were able to do our own thing without being pestered on the beach by vendors (which can sometimes be the case at some Caribbean islands). We saw a few families with kids and would not recommend it to be a family destination, as it does not really cater to kids. Definitely more for the couple that just wants to relax and get away from it all!

Room Tip: The one bedroom on the third floor (middle) in Dracena has a beautiful view of the beach and the pool.

We just spent 10 days with you and enjoyed every moment. It was our 4th trip to Provo and we have stayed at Ocean Club East every time due to it's wonderful location away from any sort of hustle and bustle. We always rent a vehicle while we are there, so we do take time to check out the many changes on the island every few years. The staff is so friendly and we really enjoy the comraderie with everyone we meet on the quiet beach. Opus improves every time we visit and it is one of the most romantic restaurants in the area - and a very short walk up the beach to the incomparable time we spend at The Infinity Bar :-) Thanks again, Ocean Club, for our latest visit to our very, very favorite "Happy Place"!!

My husband and I stayed at Ocean Club for one night in a Junior Suite Pool & Garden View. We were on the first floor in the main building. The suite was well-appointed and clean. We found a bottle of champagne waiting for us and flowers because we were celebrating our anniversary while there.

The staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful when needed. There is an onsite bar/grill called the Cabana Bar. They serve amazing conch fritters. They also had a manager's rum punch party with free appetizers while we were there.

The location is very good. It is on the far end of Grace bay located in between the Tuscany and Club Med. We didn't have a lot of noise issues at night, except a few times hearing people out in the hallway due to the tile floors they have there, but did not keep us awake. We also did have a few mosquitoes in our room, and so for this reason, it was nice to have an enclosed patio right in front of the pool.

We ate dinner at OPUS which is a very nice restaurant onsite. It was pricey, but that is typical for Providenciales. It has a beautiful atomsphere with outdoor dining and live music. Serves up a delicious Key Lime pie!!!

Ocean Club did not seem very busy while we were there. It is definitely a quiet, family resort. We would go back if we were taking our family along with us next time, but we were celebrating as a couple and stayed at Club Med for the first part of our trip, which we much preferred.

It was also very easy to book the shuttle to the airport for our departure. It costs $15 pp which is on par with the taxi service on the island.

Ocean Club is definitely a good value and a nice place to stay on this otherwise very expensive island.

Room Tip: 1st Floor rooms are definitely more prone to have mosquitoes than a higher floor room. Also, there are only 2 buildings that are truly Ocean front, if that is what you are looking for.

We were in Provo 2 years ago and stayed at the Royal West Indies. We had no complaints but wanted to be a touch closer to the golf course. My husband walked over there to play and practice on a daily basis. He would go off around 2:30 (even though his tee time was 4:00) and then practice. They would then let him go early at the twilight rate that starts at 4:00. ($85). He had a great time though it could be windy. Don't buy the hotel packages- just go over there and talk to them. Twilight was the best deal and you could get in 18 before dark at 7:30. Of course he was a single and moves on the course.

The resort itself is perfect for us. We had a junior suite which was lovely #9101. It was situated away from the beach but near the front desk area. Fine by us. All have a lovely wide screened in porch which really adds to your living space. The ceiling fans were more than enough to keep the place comfortable. The only complaint we had- and this is not the fault of the resort so I hesitate to mention it- were the screaming children. I don't think this is a place for children. The pool is not that large and for some reason the families were not taking them down to the beach. There is nothing for them to do here other than the beach. It is an adult resort. Even older children- there was one child's bike available. There is no play area. Service is slow in restaurants and these children are not into "dining". As I look over previous reviews I find it really hard to believe someone described this place as "kid friendly".

As I said, the resort is perfect for my husband and I. The beach is wonderful! Going to the right as you face the water has some wonderful stretches of isolated beach. To the left are the hotels. We were informed that the coral reef is at least two miles to the left but you can just walk in and snorkel there. We did that last time and it was pretty exhausting coming back. There were never any issues regarding chairs at the beach, pool or towels. Always there were plenty of towels any time of day- kudos to the staff.

Yes, it is expensive here. Accept it. There are no magic places where the natives shop. We rode our bikes to the Caicos Bakery every morning to pick out a french treat (usually chocolate croissant) and then on to the Graceway Gourmet where we would enjoy a croissant and a latte at their tables, then we shopped for our dinner. The four cheese pizza there is great! There were 2 of us and we took $1500 for one week. This included our golf and dining- no trips or souvenirs- and we came home with about $300. We ate out twice- the place at the resort had a lobster night for $30 and it was very good. We also are not big drinkers so factor that in.

All in all a great trip. We are planning on returning next year. This resort is a great value.
