“Great Family Vacation at GBC”
Reviewed May 1, 2007

We just got back from a week at Grace Bay Club with our 2 year old,and 5 year old sons and our aupair. The property is beautiful. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite on the family side of the resort. The suite was spacious, very clean and perfect for a family. The view was incredible!

Upon arrival the staff greeted the kids with a fruit punch and a stuffed animal. Additionally, Morgan (the director of kids town) introduced herself to us and the kids and made everyone feel welcome. It was a relief to know that the kids were going to be very welcome at Grace Bay Club.

After attending Kids Town on Monday our 5 year old asked if he could go everyday...so he did. They did wonderful and creative activities with the kids including environmental walks, arts and crafts, pool time, scavenger hunts etc. If the water on Grace Bay hadn't been so rough (there was a lot of wind) the week we were there they would have also gone out on the Hobie Cats and the kyaks. They also hosted a kids "cocktail party" by the pool on Monday night where they served soft drinks, hors d'oeuvres and popcorn. This was then followed by toasting marshmallows on the beach. What a great experience for young kids on vacation!

For the adults GBC has a good fitness room and a brand new spa facility. We liked our massages so much the first time we scheduled a second during the week. The managers also hosted an adult only cocktail party on Thursday night. That was a nice treat.

We found all of the staff to be friendly and helpful. The bartenders at the family pool bar were funny and entertaining for both the adults and the kids. At breakfast Julio always made us laugh. And both Stephanie and Bob were very helpful with restaurant suggestions and making reservations for us. I also want to give a special thanks to Shameka who helped arrange many things for us before our arrival including, wine and chocolate covered strawberries in our suite for my husband's birthday.

The only negatives we could find were that for a 5 star hotel the towels for the pool and beach emptied out very quickly, the staff did not clean up around the family pool frequently enough. There were always kids toys, empty cups and dirty towels laying around. We would have also liked to have more frequent bar/food service on the beach or near the pool. While they did serve sorbet and fresh fruit on a few days it did not seem consistent. Since you never really sit and relax with young kids this was not a huge issue for us on this vacation.

Overall we had a wonderful experience at Grace Bay Club and we would recommend it to people traveling with kids who want a quick flight from the East Coast, a beautiful room and a beautiful beach. Thanks to everyone at Grace Bay Club for making this a wonderful and relaxing family vacation!!!

Nice quick getaway from NYC. Nice hotel and rooms however the hotel really has to work on their service and making the guests feel that they are welcomed and at home. The suite I stayed in was very nice however for the money spent the service was a joke. If it wasnt for the managers running around then the rating would be terrible. Recommnded for the beach and the rooms however the service at the restaurants to the beach and pool MUST improve.

Emailed Grace Bay Club in March asking about the availability of one bedroom suite for certain dates in August, 2007. Reply - "We are closed in August". Not a word about when they might be open. Emailed again on April 2nd asking about certain dates in September, 2007. They replied FIFTEEN DAYS LATER, on April 17th. This tells me all I need to know about Grace Bay Club. We will go to the Four Seasons on Nevis.

Our family just returned from a 9 day trip to the Grace Bay Club Resort in Providenciales. Despite the spotty weather, the resort couldn't have been more lovely. We stayed in the Villas for 7 nights as well as the newly re-furbished Hotel for 2 daysl (after our older boys left). The entire management staff was incredibly gracious and helpful. It is a unique quality for a resort to feel like a wonderful neighborhood. This is exactly how we felt at Grace Bay.

Nikheel Advani and Awet Sium head up the dynamic young management team They are both poised, professional, and always smiling. Both greeted us every day with offers ranging from carrying towels to booking a special dinner at the last minute. As we learned, it is a team effort with everyone helping out wherever and whenever needed. The team includes people like Stephanie, O'Brian, and Andreas who always volunteer to go the extra mile. Their attitude is contagious and can be seen in the enthusiasm, and diligence of the entire staff. It's definately all about lateral service here!

Our villa was spacious and lovely and is much nicer in person than on the website! The housekeeping was amazing, arriving every morning while we were out and re-stocking any water or detergent that we used the day before. The staff is very polite and well dressed and they do a terrific job every day.

The restaurant is beautiful on a clear night, as you are able to eat on the water in the gardens -- lovely. The menu is very good, with specials every day. We were able to enjoy huge stone crab on two of our dinners, which were delicious! They have a new Chef from Miami that will be completely revamping the menu and I am sure it will be even better!
Make sure to introduce yourself to Kali, who is the restaurant manager. He has years of experience from around the world (Malaysia, Singapore, etc..) and made some great suggestions for other restaurants as well (O Solei our personal favorite).
In addition to all the great management team, they have an intern program and the young energetic staff was very impressive! Special thanks to Bob.

The hotel is very cool! We stayed in room 207 which is beautiful. Lovely soft carribean cool colors and a bit contemporary. The living room is huge, with a beautiful view of the ocean as you enter the villa. In the living room there is a kitchenette with a cappuccino maker, and a washer/dryer. The bedroom has black floors and white linens with soft sea- blue furnishings--very nice and peaceful. We have stayed many times at Parrot Cay, and I preferred these rooms. It is also very private and away from the villas, so as to not be bothered if you want the romantic getaway.

I am sure I don't have to tell you how nice the beach is! They have one of the largest beach expanses on Grace Bay and as a result, the feel of the resort is very spread out and peaceful. Carlos has been at Grace Bay for years (he was there when we first came to the island in 1997). Make sure to look him up. He will take great care of you, and has terrific suggestions for outings and boats if you desire. We miss him already!

On a final note, you MUST go to the spa for a massage. Truly, the therapists are some of the best we have ever experienced, and others staying said the same. It is small, but well worth the effort. Try the seaweed wrap and massage for sore muscles --amazing!!

Hopefully, this will be helpful to anyone trying to decide to go to Grace Bay Club. We didn't know what to expect and were so pleased, we will be back soon! Thanks to all the staff that worked so hard to make it such a memorable vacation.

We took our two children (4 and 5) to Grace Bay for Spring Break this year. My husband and i had stayed there 8 years ago for our honeymoon. The resort is bigger (they now have two villa buildings) but very nice. If you book a 'villa', know that it is not a stand alone building, but part of a five floor condo...still, very nice. Our suite was great, everything was there, DVD players, full kitchen, wine cooler, etc. Housekeeping was awesome and made the room to new each day. The resort itself is well maintained, staff is good, some more than others (never met anyone surly as mentioned in previous reviews). Concierge O'Brien was great and went out of his way to get whatever we needed. The pool (8family) is nice, goes from 4 to 6 feet with a hot tub and 2' walk in for little ones to play. They always brought water to the pool and had it ready for you at the beach, along with towels, etc. The Grille restaurant was limited but good, slow service, but, hey, it's the Carribbean. The star Anacanoa restaurant is still very good, although still very pricey. This was not a cheap vacation by any means, expext to pay $5 for a can of coke and it goes up from there. The resort spa is super - great staff, professional, clean...expensive. there is a 10% service charge on everything from your daily room rate to a coke - and that is not considerd a tip, so be aware. Overall, a very nice resort. not sure it ranks up there with the "five stars", but very nice. The island itself has completely lost it's charm and is being way over developed...might want to ask about construction noise before you book - lots going on around the resort (bothersome in the daytime, but not too terrible). We will not be back as there are plenty of other islands with charm and culture, which Provo is severly lacking.

We thought Grace Bay club was the perfect place to go for a few days of R and R. What I did not know is that for 1000 per night for smallest room (including taxes), I was going to be staying in a condo complex on the beach. The is not a small luxury hotel with 5 star service, but rather four condo buildings (all units are pleasant, but outdated furniture etc). The beach is nice. However it is a public beach with a lot of traffic. I would not leave my ipod at chair when going to get lunch etc. The main problem with this location besides being way too expensive is the staff. They are simply not trained to be staff at a top luxury location. The are extremely casual, for the most part rude and have little follow thru. Example- We had requested a taxi for 730 pm in order to make dinner reservation at 8pm. The kitchen of the restaurant we were going to eat closed at 830pm. The desk never arranged the taxi and by the time they finally got a car the restaurant could no longer accept us as it was after 830pm when we arrived. Additonally, the food at the hotel is very good, but plan on having to order more than once to get what you want. Note that lunch is approx. 50 dollars per person and dinner is min of 100 dollars per person with just glass of wine. Also, the staff is either not friendly at all or over the top saying things to my wife like "you look pretty tonight lady" not once but like 4 times. Odd! TRAIN YOUR STAFF. Bottom line- nice to know that such beautiful beaches are just one hour flight from Florida, but this hotel is way too expensive. With a total bill of 7800 for five nights, I expected way more. What a rip off! When luxury destinations like Four Seasons Nevis, Little Dix VIrgin Gorda or Caneal Bay offering far better service and less than the price of this condo hotel, why would you ever come to the Grace Bay Club? I can tell you that I will never return! Very Dissappointed!!!!!!!!!

Although we did not stay at the Grace Bay Club, my husband and I wished we had. Provo is over-run with condo clubs that are representing as resorts. The Alexandra being one, with a serious problem of construction on all sides. We were underwhelmed with the general level of service at the Alexandra; when we asked for ice for our room and were told to go to the IGA supermarket to buy some. AND THEN THERE WAS THE GRACE BAY CLUB. We had gone there for the Anacaona restaurant, but learned of a whole new level of service for the Provo area. The food was excellent, the wine list extensive, and the service was attentive. Although, my Husband was let down when he learned he had ordered the diet place (it was tasty but too light for a guy). What was extraordinary was the hospitality shown by the people who work at the Grace Bay Club. For example, Marvin, who works the 4pm-midnight shift at the pool bar, intuitively knew the exact foofy drink I was looking for all over the island (he makes a the best Hummingbird outside of Jamaica). Marvin was personable and full of great advice about how to get the most out of Provo. Later, when we called for a cab and were waiting in front of the resort (on a very comfortable couch set up for people who are taking taxis), a friendly member of the staff came out to ask if we needed help or have a cab called. This was a cut above the good serivce we found in Provo.
