“Beautiful!”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

We stayed at this hotel for a week and it was beautiful.

They checked us in with cool handclothes and a rum punch...

The rooms were clean and well maintained. Always timely and fresh linens. The people working at the hotel we incredibly helpful and willing to book anything we wanted. They booked all excursions and dinner reservations immediately.

The hotel only has 91 rooms so it is more of a boutique hotel. I have never been a fan of the smaller hotels but if you are going to try one - this is it. I would go back here in a heartbeat. The pool was perfect but the beach was amazing. We walked all the way down and looked at other resorts. The further you walk the narrower the beach becomes - we quickly realized how lucky we were at our place. They also don't have a ton of excursion boats coming up into the beach (like the larger resorts).

They have a 50-60 chairs around the pool which is not enough for every guest in the hotel. Since we were there during the off-season it was not an issue. But if you are there during the peak season, you may have to splurge and rent the middle areas.

All in all the resort was great. Loved every minute, the people were very hospitable, and the beach was more than worth it.

Dear Katherine R,

Thank you for the great review. We’re delighted you thoroughly enjoyed your stay on the island. We pride ourselves with having quality, attentive service that keeps guests coming back for more. Hopefully you tried the food and drinks at our beach bar while relaxing on the white sand. The fish tacos will surely satisfy your afternoon seafood craving – grilled tilapia with lime crema, mango chutney, cilantro, tomato salsa and coleslaw. Light, fresh and perfect for the beach. We hope you stay with us again!

Best,

The staff makes the hotel! They are very attentive and happy to help. The pool is beautiful and the vibe with the music is very south beach. The food by the pool is very good but should be for the price. The breakfast is complimentary and offers a large variety to choose from. The gym is small but adequate for vacation. The beach is well maintained and the chairs are comfortable. I highly recommend viewing the stars at night from the beach beds. The only drawback to the room was the lack of privacy for the toilet...smoked glass door. The bed was very comfortable and there is a full service kitchenette area. Our favorite part was the shower- excellent water pressure and choice between hand held or ceiling shower. But back to the staff...a huge shout out to Reggie, AJ, and Corey for making the stay so enjoyable!!!!

The Gansevoort is the perfect property for some time in the sun! The beach in front of the hotel was pristine and the water truly is what you see in the pictures. We spent most of our time on the beach with the fabulous crew meeting our every need. The beach bar was friendly with a great bar tender ready to make a rum drink. Our room was clean, comfortable and had a fantastic view! We are already planning our next trip!

I was initially hesitant to book this hotel since some of the reviews indicated that the service was lacking here. Ultimately I am glad I did decide to stay at the Gansevoort because it is a beautiful hotel and I experienced nothing but great service during my entire stay.

We were greeted by the hotel staff at the airport with bottles of water and a couple glasses of rum punch upon arrival at the front desk. We also received a complementary massage in the lobby area.

The rooms are very modern and spacious. Even though our room was a pool view studio we still had an excellent ocean view from the balcony. The kitchenette was very convenient as we were able to keep food we bought from the nearby IGA grocery store and we had appliances, silverware, glasses, etc in the room. The rooms have flat screens with a good selection of familiar channels and a DVD player. Our room had a stand up ceiling shower as well. The twice daily housekeeping was excellent and they always came at the perfect time as we were out to dinner.

Service at the beach was excellent. The attendants were always checking up on guests and constantly bringing out F&B orders from the Beach Bar. Service at the pool was also very good and the music is constantly relaxing. The pool is relatively small however and we did find that a few young children jumping, splashing, etc were a total buzzkill so we spent more time on the beach. This hotel is definitely best suited for couples and groups of adults.

There are complementary kayaks, paddle boards, and snorkeling equipment on the beach daily. We saw a lot of curious little fish during our stay just feet from the water's edge.

The complimentary breakfast buffet was also very good and definitely adds value to the stay compared with other hotels. The fitness center is pretty small but has the essentials and I found it adequate for my purposes. The property wide free Wi-Fi is also an excellent amenity at this hotel. I was even able to reach the Wi-Fi on the beach with my phone & tablet.

The hotel is also adjacent to Bight Park so we able to walk over to the Thursday night fish fry. Friday night is disco night at Stelle and during our stay Moët had a promotion on Friday night. That was a nice event to have at the hotel with a mix of locals. And a few free glasses of Moët is never a bad thing.

Saturday night during our stay there was a wedding but we still were able to enjoy live music at the beach bar. The bartender was hilarious and very nice. I thought the hotel staff did an excellent job of accommodating both the wedding party and the other hotel guests simultaneously.

Cabs are pricey getting around the island but so is renting a car and given how poorly marked some of the roadways are, I think cabbing it was the better decision. We used Big Blue taxi daily from the Gansevoort. Our driver Hartman was very friendly and punctual.

Hotel concierge was very courteous and accommodated all our requests. Overall this is a great hotel. The two times we pulled up in a taxi or shuttle with other travelers staying at different hotels we experienced a little bit of envy from them. The service was great and staying at the Gansevoort definitely made our trip to Provo unforgettable.

I will some how try to put into works the beauty this resort holds. From the moment we walked into the Gansevoort Regi welcomed us with a smile and made us feel right at home! He gave us the lay of the land even though we checked in at 9pm. I had read previously from another viewer to call before and request the corner unit and I got exactly what I had asked for! We had the one bedroom deluxe suite and it was worth every penny! Especially bc there is a washer and dryer in the unit! Don't plan on watching to much TV because the cable isn't great, but who goes there for that!!!

When you hit the beach look out for Jason, we called him Brooklyn, bc he's a Brooklyn Nets fan! He got our beds ready by the beach everyday and always came to check on us if we needed anything! There are paddle boards and kayaks for use and make sure to get snorkel gear early in the morning! When you decide to hit the bar make sure to look for Desmond! That was our guy the whole trip! Pull up a chair and let him make you one of his spectacular drinks!

The bar by the beach is great! The Greek salad is refreshing, the pizzas are delicious, but skip the conch fritters they aren't worth the calories! Stella is delicious!!! The carpaccio appetizer is fantastic and all the dinner options are worth the price!

We also splurged and had a couples massage, the entire experience was fantastic!

Thank you so for an amazing experience! We will be back next year with a big group!

The Gansevoort is one of the most beautiful, pristine and luxurious hotels I have ever been to. Equivalent to Ritz and Four Seasons properties I have visited. I liked the contemporary feel of the property and the seamless integration of the pool and nearly flawless beach. We rented the 3 bedroom villa on the 4th floor and it contained a master suite with separate kitchen and living areas; a junior master suite with mini kitchen and regular suite. The suites contained expensive European appliances, glass showers with ceiling waterfalls, flat screens TVs throughout and all major TV networks which was an unexpected plus. The beach looked great but be careful, one of my friends almost stepped on a used condom during her morning walk.

I am a workout fanatic so I attended 2 classes hosted by Kim, one of the instructors and both were awesome. I am in great shape with less that 10 percent body fat and she kicked our butts. One class was held on the beach and the sand added extra rigor. I was pleasantly whipped. The gym was small but adequate with treadmill and elliptical; also free weights. Make sure to pack your finest beach swimwear and casual attire. If you are a fashionista/o, you'll be in great company. We spent most of our time lounging on the beach and by the pool. Very pretty people looking good.

Caicos tours - we took an excursion with Pop and Lickey with Caicos tours. These 2 guys were great captains and tour guides. Cost about $90 per person and they picked us up on the beach behind the hotel. There were about 4 stops at the various hotels before we headed out to the sea. Much fun. They passed out scuba equipment to those who wanted to partake and they were very patient with those who wanted to try but had little experience. You have to ask for help otherwise they assume you know what you are doing. The rum punch and soft drinks were flowing. On another stop after scuba, we were allowed to dive for conch shells in 12 foot water. Another stop on Iguana Island where we witnessed Pop cleaning the conch, cutting it up and preparing ceviche and feeding us lunch. Tasted pretty good. We saw many iguanas on the small island. After playing in the water and seeing stingray we headed back. About 4 hours total.

Food: breakfast each morning at Stelle was great. Make sure to get the breakfast pkg. service was ok. The hostess during breakfast was not very friendly. The omlette maker was very nice. I like Lucienne very much. Bar service was terrific. Desmond was a great bartender. There was a wedding one night and Stelle only served a limited menu poolside and the food was average and overpriced. The drinks were great though. Bar food during the day was good; fish tacos were great but expensive.

We attended the Thurs. fish fry hosted by the locals and hated it. The food was average and it was hot, crowed in the hotel parking lot with nowhere to sit. Cab fares were ridiculous. ridiculous.
If you pay for bar drinks and food in cash make sure you are not doublecharged to your room as well. Get a receipt for your cash payments.

Restaurants:

Stelle C rating

Bay Bistro I got lamb chops which were good, my friends said their dishes were ok, I guess C plus rating. The cat walking around was annoying. The cab fare for the four of us was sixty bucks for a five minute drive. We later found out we could have walked down the beach to get there.

Bugaloo, C minus. Very primitive. If you want old school island flavor, go for it. A little too raw for us. They were raising crabs in cages like dogs as we entered the restaurant front, a mangy stray dog was walking around, but the band was good with limbo and other spectator entertainment. We did not stay long.

Seven stars - This restaurant was part of another luxurious hotel property. On the beach BBq buffet for eighty bucks a person plus drinks. Very nice experience but not worth the money. Ribs, grilled fish, chicken, salads and great dessert buffet. Pricey pricey. One night we had the cab driver stop by the grocery store so we could have some wine and liquor of our own. Very pricey but worth it Over our five day stay, my wife and I spent approx. $1,500 on food and drinks. this is not an inexpensive place if you truly want to take advantage of the full flavor. There is not a lot to see on the island so I suggest you enjoy the hotel and beach and excursions.

There were plenty of lounge chaises by the pool so no need to rent private ones. The beach had beds for rent but we did not need to rent them. There seemed to be plenty of free seating which were fine. Beach service to me was very good by the pool and the guys were very polite and helpful. The staff overall was extremely polite and helpful. Make sure to understand your cellular plan because data service was expensive. The hotel had good wifi so I turned data off and relied on texting which was much cheaper. The temperature was very hot and tropical with a little rain. Overall I would definitely go back to this property and Turks. Not the greatest property for kids. They were actually a nuisance to us.

Room Tip: Get an ocean facing room if you can afford it.

Dear Sirdarby,

Thank you for the detailed review. We will pass along your appraisals and compliments to our team. We’re thrilled you experienced a variety of offerings on our property as well as explore the island. Perhaps next time you can try even more Turks and Caicos activities. How about a day spent kite boarding and parasailing on the beach followed by a delectable meal at our poolside Stelle Restaurant? Savor the golden end-of-day sun with a bubbly cocktail in hand and indulge in fresh seafood. We suggest the Blackened Wahoo with rosemary lentils, sautéed kale, parsley and almond gremolata – an island delight. The opportunities here are endless and we hope you join us again!

Best,
