We stayed at Point Grace a few years ago and had a wonderful dinner at Grace's cottage, thought we'd try again for dinner so walked via the beach from Regent Palms. As we remembered the setting is very romantic with tables in nooks and crannies giving privacy and separation for others. We started with a bottle of Cabernet and 2 Caesar salads. For dinner we had the snapper and tuna rare, both prepared perfect. We wanted dessert but the service was just too slow that we couldn't struggle thru it... The bill was $190 plus tip. The food is excellent, the setting excellent but the service is painful. What a shame.

Tried Grace’s Cottage the last night of our week on TCI. This is a grand old dame, luxurious, rich, but a little faded, frayed, and, well, a bit old. I suspect when it first opened it must have been THE place to go, but it has fallen off that high perch since. I don’t fuss much about a place when I’m eating $10 jerk chicken at a beach shack, but you need to clean up your act if you’re charging $35+ per plate. There are plenty of new and modern high end restaurants to choose from on the island…

PROS:
-Service was attentive, unusually so for TCI, lots of staff walking around
-Food was well prepared and showed up quickly
-Drinks arrived chilled and were replenished quickly
-Setting is lovely, almost like a lush tropical garden

CONS:
-It’s a lush tropical garden, but the same could be located anywhere. Shame not to be near the water when on TCI. Mosquitos!! They have bug spray, no problem mon.
-Torn menu pages covered in food stains – high end place, remember?? Print up new ones!
-Options limited to high end heavies without recognizing the local cuisine. You can get a $45 steak in the US or anywhere else, why not offer some bold and creative island flavors instead?!
-The food in general was not bad, but nothing really impressive. No interesting flavors, heat, spices. It’s as if it was deliberately ‘bland-ed’ down to please a wide audience. It could stand to spice things up a bit in the kitchen.
-SMALL portions.

Total bill in excess of $220 for two. For that money, try somewhere else on the beach with a sunset.

We gambled on Grace's after looking at other reviews and we were blown away! The food, the presentation, the atmosphere and the service were all above par! We even liked it better than Coco Bistro! Loved the extra touches in between courses from the chef.

We were very excited to try this place as we didnt make it last year. The hotel this place is at, is amazing. We walked up from the ocean and the pool area is huge and beautiful and then walking up to this place you wind through almost like a garden to a plantation style place.....Amazing!

So, thats where our great evening ended. I honestly think maybe the chef wasnt there the night we dined, because the food and prep was way under-par. The two things that really torqued us were that we had pistachio shells, yes, whole big shell fragments, included in our dish. So as you're eating away, you suddenly about take a tooth out on a shell......we showed this to the server who gave an apology, but it didnt seem to be a major issue to them.

Second, the grouper was either not fresh (hard to believe on an island) or WAY over-cooked because it was very 'fishy' tasting......bordering on horrible honestly.

As you can see by my reviews, I dont have a problem calling out my experiences.....when the server came to remove the food she gave the old 'how was everything' to which I chimed in on behalf of my wife (who is way too nice to say anything bad) to let them know her fish was horrible and they let us down (but was nice about it). They apolgized, again, and said they'd let the chef know. The ended up taking 2 glasses of wine off our bill.....but not the meal....oddly enough (and no, we didnt eat it all, only about a 1/3 of it).

In my opinion, in a place this fancy and of this caliber, when a customer is chewing on pistachio shells and has horrible fish (in a seafood haven), that chef should get his tail out to that table, and personally apologize and see what they could do, to make things better, if they really care about their food and guests. The fact that no chef came out, makes me question what really happened....is it a chef who really doesnt care, was there no chef there and they served us warmed up over-cooked fish??).

Anyway....until we go next year again, or another year and get a better result, I'd have to steer people to other, better places, which there are MANY.....such a shame.

Menu was nice except they should tell you when you sit that ALL the lobster dishes on menu, were out of season. Food was yummy but portions may be small for some.
