I'd recommend taking the cab from the cruise ship port at Margaritaville (way too touristy for our taste) to Pillory Beach at Bohio Dive Resort, about 15 minutes away. The beach is full of shells and natural pine. The sands are white and powdery and there is excellent snorkeling close by. The guide will take you out with supplied equipment for a few hours for 40 dollars, or you can rent the snorkeling equipment for 20 dollars, all day. The reefs are beautiful here, and there is an underwater cliff that drops from 50 feet to an instant mile deep precipice called the Grand Turk Wall.
There is a bar on the beach with very strong drinks and a limited beer menu, a restaurant, clean restrooms and a few other equipment rentals.
There are lots of conch shells and sand dollars to take home if you like, just make sure there isn't a hermit crab in one, otherwise the water and beaches are full of them-free for the taking.
To rent a beach lounge chair is 10 dollars, drinks are 12-14 bucks, burgers and other food runs from 10-15, a little on the expensive side for what you get but we didn't care.
There are lots of friendly dogs running around, all collared and well cared for, and they will sit with you and play all day long. We loved it!
Be sure to shop the duty free shops at the port if you are a shopper. This island is known for color-changing knick knacks. Not my thing, but people love them apparently.
A few more points about Bohio...outdoor showers are located by the bathrooms. You can't use the pool unless you are a guest at this small, odd resort. I don't think we'd ever stay here but it's fun for a day.
The cabbie will pick you up in plenty of time to make departure from your ship. Be sure to tip.
We'd do it again for sure!
