We visited Grand Turk on Holland America in December. The owner, Doug, offered a group rate of $21 per person for a group of 10 or more from the ship, then just took $20 because it was a hassle to make change. That's the easy-going spirit of the tour, a family business that donates part of its proceeds to the Grand Turk Preservation Trust. It is an open-air tram, so I imagine it can be hot at times, but it was sunny and just warm enough when we visited. This 90-minute tour is a much better value than the cruise lines' inflated prices. It is not difficult to find: as you walk toward the beach on the pier, just look to your left past the boundaries of the Margaritaville complex. The tram is parked next to the Local Village bar, near several international flags. Just walk along the beach about 100 yards. Doug will answer any questions in advance by e-mail. We're pleased to recommend this business.
