We visited Adventure Farm during our December holiday in Tobago. The hummingbirds were spectacular!! There was even a very rare white hummingbird that came to feed. I have never seen so many hummingbirds at the same time. At one point there were about 40 hummingbirds darting around and competing with each other. And they are so tame. You can stand 10 inches from them and they don't seem to be afraid. There are many other birds that come to feed but we especially loved the Mot Mot, it was so beautiful. No wonder he is called the King of the Wood.
We also walked around the grounds. There are fairly easy hiking trails where you can see many kinds of citrus trees, mango trees and other tropical plants. Unfortunatly there were no mangoes as it was not the right season but the oranges and tangerines were ready so we picked some. They were delicious. We saw lizards, and heard many parrots high up in the trees. They even have a fish pond.
Even though we were disappointed that it was not mango season I was happy to have a mango smoothy after our hike around the grounds. The owners harvest and freeze the mangoes so guests can enjoy the wonderful taste of mangoes all year round. My husband had the home made mango ice cream. What a wonderful way to end our visit.
On our next trip to Tobago we plan to go back for another visit to Adventure Farm.
