“Perfect peace”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

Im not a bird watcher but I'd recommend this excursion for all including hard core twitchers! Give Harris McDonald of Harris Jungle Tours a call and you won't regret it. This guy knows his birds, plants and the trails like the back of his hand. His easy style copes with different client groups - and he makes a good breakfast sandwich!
The trails are beautiful peace temples under the rain forest canopy - the sun dapples through the trees, but even when a downpour happened we remained almost entirely dry! Hummingbirds abound, amongst other rare beauties. 2-3 hours here is like mediation. Followed up by a cold drink on the trip back to hotels and a review of all the sights seen! Plenty of photo opportunities! Not to be missed.

“Easy and pretty rain forest hike”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

Junior (Thomas) made our trip to Tobago sooo amazing! We spent all day with him exploring the island and its beautiful rain forest. Without a guide we would have never been able to see as much as we did. The Tobago rain forest is definitely worth visiting if you love birds and nature and I don't know if anyone can show it to you better then Junior.

“Don't miss the rainforest”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

Although we were there in the dry season, it had rained heavily the night before our visit, so the birds were a bit shy that day. But our wonderful guide 'King David' was brilliant, helping to bring alive the secrets of the plants and animals. We stopped en route to hook up with a friend of his who for 5 TTs provided us with wellies ( recommended !) , and we had plenty of stops as we walked the trail for bits of history and nature talks. I don't think you should go to Tobago without visiting the rainforest, it's a wonderful still shady place

“Interesting for bird watchers”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

It's something you feel you have to do whilst in Tobago, and our guide was excellent. It remains something special, having been preserved for over two hundred years. However, apart from a muddy, quite tricky walk spotting some rare birds there is little animal life to observe as they are virtually all nocturnal. So don't go expecting to see armadillos or snakes! A new museum centre is about to open which should add to the appeal.

“Lots of trails for walking and exploring”
Reviewed February 19, 2013

The forest reserve is great, more so if you are an avid bird watcher. I'm not, but I'm almost converted! The trails aren't long, we did the spring trail, but are such a change from the hot sun and beach that you find 10km down the road. We had a guide, which was useful as it helped us identify different species of birds, and we learnt a bit about the history of the rain forest. If you don't have a guide, you will still manage to enjoy the reserve. If you do have a guide, again agree a price before embarking on the tour, as the price can change!

Worth a visit just for the change in temperature and the peacefulness of the area.
