I happened to pass by the restaurant one day and was impressed by the exterior decor so I suggested to my husband we try it. We were not disappointed! Since it was a Friday night we decided on, I called for a reservation, which was a good thing since the place was hopping by the time we left at 8:30. We arrived promptly for our 6:00 reservation and were welcomed to our seat straight away.
The interior decor is clean and modern, with a bit of European chic. I felt like I had been transported from Trinidad to Milano. I didn't think this kind of upscale restaurant existed here until now. As such, there is a dress code of smart casual, meaning no shorts or beach sandals (slippers).
The service was spot on. The staff are well trained and professional, which was a welcome surprise. The wine list was decent, but I was disappointed to hear they were out of Chianti. I chose their house white, a dry Pinot Grigio, which I quite enjoyed.
The menu is quite diverse, offering a nice selection of antipasti, as well as pasta, main courses of fish or meat, salads, and dessert. Offering generous portion sizes as well as vegetarian options, I thought it was good value for money.
I went for a simple caprese salad appetizer followed by the pumpkin tortellini and chocolate soufflé for dessert. Their pastas are made in house and I was pleased to see that they offered gluten free pasta selection.
The timing of the service was great and attention to detail, topping up water and wine, was faultless.
We will definitely return. I would not hesitate to recommend buzo.
