Dining options: Lunch, Takeout
Description: An array of food stands within a cafeteria-like setting, some have claimed that this is one of the best places to experience local Trini cuisine at it's finest. Situated right next to the actual Port, this has traditionally been a place for the Portsmen to grab a bite to eat before their long days at the Port. Though it is now a place where many Trini business people will stop by to grab some delicious and quick. Inside, they host everything from refreshing fruit smoothies to some of Trinidad's local classics that you can not easily find at street vendors' stands. Not to mention, it sits right on the water and provides some excellent views.

“Disappointed”
Reviewed January 30, 2012

Upon recommendation from hotel staff, I came here to sample local food. I guess i wasn't sure what to expect, but this was not what I expected. I had previously eaten at a food court in a local mall, so know that the food prices here are actually higher, so you are in essence paying for the "atmosphere". Nice view of harbor, but that's about it. I might add that I took a cab here, and I have a suspicion that he was getting a kickback from the vendor, and that is why my food was more expensive than I expected. It's only a theory.

“If you want cheap local food, nothing more.”
Reviewed September 24, 2011

Let's be honest, it is local local food, but rather heavy and although on the waterfront area - not really pleasant setting. But if it is just cheap local food you want, then you can try. I personally have never been impressed - but I guess if you want plenty food and cheap, then ok. For local food, I would recommend Veni Mange which is a nice local restaurant but slightly expensive compared to here. The BEST place for VERY DELICIOUS local food is a place called COLOZ on Gatacre Street, Woodbrook. They offer a week day buffet for about US $10, and the menu changes every day (always have fish though). They do not even advertise or have signage on the restaurant, but there is always a good crowd every lunch time. Very popular with business people, and yes you do see some well known local persons there regularly.

“Authentic Trinidadian food and very cheap”
Reviewed August 11, 2011

A friendly lady told us how the place worked - basically choose some meat and some veg. It is outside covered sitting next to the sea. It was busy with locals. Thle food was good quality, reasonable sized portions and very cheap. It is not a glamourous spot, but fills a spot and for the price you can not complain.
