Owner description: This popular beach spot fulfills the fantasy of the ideal Caribbean beach, but is just as famous for the scenic rainforest drive that must be made to reach it.

We stopped here for just over an hour on our 1 day tour of the island (we had a full day - went to the water falls, queen park and several other stops). We are a bit snobby so the water was a bit too dirty for our liking. But MANY people were in it - looked to have been having a wonderful time. We walked along the beach for awhile just enjoying the sunshine and positive energy. We then went across the road where there were numerous vendors selling the most delicious food (at VERY good prices I might add).
You HAVE to try the Shark and Bake - if you are not a seafood lover (like me) they have Chicken (fried meat in a fresh warm baked bread - they seriously have over a dozen toppings and another dozen sauces/seasonings you can add to your sandwich to make it unique)
To do it "right" I would say plan to spend a half day here.

As part of a reunion the family went to visit Maracas Bay and Beach.

The drive itself is a pleasure, with a few vista points for great pictures. Drive slowly though, some sharp curves on the way up. Maracas Bay has a beautiful beach with mountains framing the view.

In addition, Maracas Bay/Beach is known for their bake and shark too. A must try and delicious. If you are in Trinidad, this is a must do!

After a pretty drive around the mountain you finally see the stunning Maracas Bay - beautiful and safe for family bathing with delicious Shark "n Bake. A must for any visitor to T&T.

First of all, never have I ever seen someone give our free beach chairs to lounge on - so that was a great perk. The beach is breathtakingly beautiful. The water was warm, the sand was incredibly fine, and the view was simply amazing. We had bake and shark after our beach day at Uncle Sam's and it was delicious.
