Owner description: This popular beach spot fulfills the fantasy of the ideal Caribbean beach, but is just as famous for the scenic rainforest drive that must be made to reach it.

This long beach is full of different events and food and people and offers a well rounded experience for beach connoisseurs. The shark and bake, which is sold only at maracas, is the best sandwich i have ever eaten. Absolutely delicious. Every time I go I buy at least 2. The water is lovely and the sand is not blistering hot as there are several coconut trees scattered along the shoreline providing a lovely shade. Definitely worth experiencing.

Great scenery and place to relax and people watch. Richard's Bake and Shark was fantastic! The water at Maracas is kind of rough surf, so it's advisable to exercise care and caution.

If you are from the islands like me where you have a variety of beautiful turquoise water you become spoiled and expect these waters when you go to the beach. That is not the case in Maracas but it was a great experience. The drive through the mountains with breathtaking views of the bay make it worth the experience. Drive a little further down and you get to see Las Cuevas beach...beautiful caves on the beach. The shark and bake is amazing and a must try when visiting Maracas.

Maracas is the place where family and friends gather to enjoy a nice day out at the beach. Don't worry if you didn't plan well. There a lots of offerings for food and drinks. Plus beach towels and beach wear. While at Maracas, you have to try Richard's bake and shark. After all it is the world's bestest sandwich eva!!
