Owner description: This popular beach spot fulfills the fantasy of the ideal Caribbean beach, but is just as famous for the scenic rainforest drive that must be made to reach it.

Went with my family. The beach is kind of dangerous since it has a lot of waves, but the environment is great, the views are beautiful, epecially driving down there from POS... and the shark and bake from across the street is delicious!

Access to several wonder connecting beach areas. There is the famous bake and shark! And for the naturalist it offers hiking areas.

This is definitely one of the best places to visit in Trinidad. The atmosphere here is pretty relaxed with the friendly beach salesmen all over and the food benders all along the drive to and from the beach. There are lifeguards all along the beach too to keep everyone at a safe point while in the water. While in Trinidad as a foreigner, they should definitely come here for a typical Trinidadian Shark & Bake. It is by far the best thing possible to the palate.

Definitely a must go for both foreigners and locals!

We have lived in Trinidad for more than 5 years now, and if I don't get to Maracas beach from time to time I start to go mad! Going here gets you out of town (Port of Spain) and get you a real feel that you actually are on a Caribbean island. Having kids means that the beach is a huge play ground, a huge sand box! And that's fun - together with the swimming, playing in the vawes, and body surfing. Beware of currents though. If you feel it, swim parallel with the beach and attract attention from a lifeguard if you really feel that you are getting too tired. Take the advantage of being at Maracas to eat a 'Bake 'n shark'. The best is supposed to be at 'Richards', on the other side of the road. 'Aloo' (potato) pies are also good. The trip from Port of Spain takes approximately 40 minutes by car. The road is windy and narrow. Be ware of drunk drivers and possible land slides during rainy season (normally June-December, but now more and more May to January, or even all year round :-( ...). There might be sand flies but I don't find that it is a big problem. The sun is more dangerous for pale skins!

Maracas beach is a must if you visit T&T!
