Owner description: This popular beach spot fulfills the fantasy of the ideal Caribbean beach, but is just as famous for the scenic rainforest drive that must be made to reach it.

Love the sea, sand, sun.
Beach chairs for rent.
You have to try the Shark and Bake and the various sauces.

There are not alot of beaches close to Port of Spain. The most popular is Maracas Beach. It is about 45 mins from the Carlton Savannah hotel.

It is not a huge beach. The water can be quite rough. However, you can relax, sun, and chill, which is also just as important as being able to get into the water.

They also have 'shark and bake' stands, which you must have. Its fried shark, in a soft, fried bun and you add all the fixings you want. They are delicious. I had a few of them, don't judge me.

The bake and shark at Richard's is fabulous, eaten on the sand, with a cold Carib, while admiring the sea. Rather rough waves in January.

Eventhough it was a long drive from town, the trip was well worth it. There are a couple of lookout spots where you can stop take pictures and enjoy local snacks. The beach was amazing. Try the Bake and Shark from Richard's.

Tip: Park along side the street, no need to pay there.

The beach is soooo blue and inviting .. It's a great way to relax away the stress of jumping in carnival all week or to wind down a busy work week .... Don't have a picnic for your holiday don't worry just across the street is the best road side fried fish and bake (fried dough/bread) and at Patsy's stand (there are a few to choose from) you get a fixin's bar free lettuce , tomato, onions , cucumber ketchup mustard hot sauce ... Whatever you need to make your day. I LOVED IT!
