“One of the best beaches in Trinidad”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2014

Las Cuevas is a beautiful calm beach, white soft sand and cool, clean blue water. The facility itself is safe and offers a place buy food and changing rooms.

“Beautiful beach, great for swimming!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2014

If you want sand and surf with lots of palm trees and people, and the best bake and shark anywhere, go to Maracas, but if you want calm swimming water and fewer people, definitely go to Las Cuevas, which is just a few kilometers farther along. They have a patrolled parking lot (free) and shower/toilet facilities ($1 TTD per use) and if you can bear some funky soca music blaring from the kiosk in the parking lot till you get to the beach, calm and bliss await you.
Beware of the sand flies, especially from June to November, and pack some bug spray or cream. Keep moving down the beach and they become fewer as you hit the whiter sand. But, the best swimming area is just below the parking area with the brownish sand... However, the water is so inviting you'll be tempted to stay in for quite a time!

My husband fishes off the shore, along with a few other locals, so if you're interested in doing this, give it a go... You might just hook yourself a big fish!

On last visit at the beginning of June saw evidence of leatherback turtles on the beach, so a few do come here for nesting. Looking forward to going back in August to see some hatchlings!

“beware the sandflies”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2014

Seven kilometres beyond maracas beach this beach is a very pleasant and calm. There are plenty of facilities. The waters are calmer but beware of the sandflies if you react badly. Don't let thstv put you off, it is a great place to swim.

“Heaven on Earth”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2014

While I am usually hotel bound or in meetings in Port of Spain or Marabella while on business in Trinidad, finally a free morning presented itself and I was able to take the opportunity to tour this incredibly beautiful coastline.

Of the three beaches my outstanding driver, Surin (+.868.681.0879) provided escort and security that morning, Las Cuevas ranked number two. However, that rating positively falls into the outstanding category. Las Cuevas is quiet. The sand and scenery is beautiful. There are no waves.

“Pretty Beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2014

Went on a Monday. There were lots of people, but not as many as weekends. It was a pretty tame beach. However, the coconut trees on Maracas Beach make Maracas Beach a more picturesque beach.
