We were cruising (on a large catamaran with some friends) in the Grenadines a few weeks ago. It was the off-season and after the long and arduous process of clearing the boat and passengers into Grenada through Hillsborough (Carriacou is part of Grenada) we rounded the corner to spend the evening in Tyrell Bay. This can be a little busy in higher season but it was quite quiet...sent a recon party to shore to scope out restaurants and it was decided that we would eat at a quaint little spot on the water...The Lazy Turtle...Gourmet Pizza....we arrived at the appointed time having watched another spectacular sunset.....one lovely woman ran the show...she tended the bar,,,took the orders and did the cooking......there were pizzas and inventive pastas on the menu and a limited but great selection of wonderful Italian wines that complemented the menu....in short the dinner was wonderful..the lady who looked after us (and I regret that I cannot recall her name) was wonderful, the Carbonera was as good as you could have had in a Manhatten restaurant and better...the pizzas were light and delicious and the Chianti, the stars twinkling over the moored yachts and the company made this one of the very best meals of our cruise.....so my advice...no need to go fancy to have a great dinner in Carriacou. Go to the Lazy Turtle in Tyrell Bay and have an unforgettable time.
