This was my second time to Sugar Reef, my last visit was on my last trip to Bequia earlier in 2013. The setting and decor are still great, although you can get a bit windswept during the winter months as it is on the windward side of the island. The food however was a little disappointing, and doesn't quite match the environment. There is definitely the effort to try and create an interesting menu, but the execution is just not there. We ordered 3 mains and a dessert. My burger was decent enough but the fries are fried in coconut oil which in my opinion was not a good formula. My friends ordered a fish burger, the first bite of which was a mouthful of bones - never a good start, and a lobster soup - which had a fairly old and tough bit of lobster tail floating around in it. I ordered a flour-less chocolate cake for dessert which was not good at all (which is saying something as I love virtually all things chocolate!) - it hardly tasted of chocolate which i assume was because they used low quality chocolate and the texture of the thing was like nothing I've come across in a flour-less chocolate cake before. The service was friendly and efficient but the drinks are quite expensive so beware.
