We are on Bequia on holiday we went to Firefly on its last night (22nd September) open until 18th October. There was just one other diner nevertheless this did not detract from the quality of service and food received.

We had a nice cocktail each before dinner then both had delicious salad starters using mainly produce grown on the plantation and a lovely dressing.

We both chose the mango chicken with jumped bananas and vegetables as our main which I found to be delicious it was a little too spicy for my wife's taste particularly the accompanying sauce in a small bowl so she left that but the rest she was happy with.

For desert I had a frozen lime twist cheesecake and Sharon had the ice cream both were adequate but not sensational desserts.

The wine we chose was the house rose from South Africa which whilst palatable and a rich colour was not exceptional enough to justify the price.

Overall a pleasant experience that is probably worth the journey to but be aware that Firefly is at the top end of the pricing spectrum and adjust your expectations accordingly.

We have just gone on to this site to post our review having returned from a fabulous holiday here and am surprised by some of the negative comments. Not what We were expecting to see at all.
I wonder what people’s expectations were. If you go to Bequia expecting 5 star restaurants, swish waiters and your food on the table in five minutes fast food style you will definitely be disappointed.
These are beautiful, tiny, unspoilt islands where the people still live slow paced lives. 'Limeing’ is the local expression, Limeing is relaxing and enjoying what life gives you.
Come here to enjoy what the islands offer and you will not be disappointed, come here in a hurry with fast paced expectations and you will be stressed and annoyed.
Bequia offers many great restaurants and bars, much of the service is slow but the people are in general friendly and welcoming and try to please. The service at the Firefly was above average for the island and our food was all excellent, freshly prepared and delicious. We certainly had a wonderful time here and feel defensive when we read these negative comments as that was not our experience at all. We loved it all.

Had a great meal at Firefly Plantation. The staff were really friendly and most of the ingredients were all grown on the plantation! The waiter run through all of the ingredients with Joanna and even showed her the herb garden on the plantation. The atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxed and unrushed. The shade and the breeze made the meal all the more enjoyable. Would like to have tried more dishes but didn't have time and space after the rum and raisin ice cream :)

This was a highly anticipated meal - a special wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, and despite the best intentions of the staff, we came away with mixed thoughts. The meal was fine and in a wonderful setting - the restaurant is atmospheric and in a unique spot. The issues we had were on our second visit to a Barbecue night - which almost filled the restaurant but which delivered very average food. It appeared that the staff were struggling to keep up with the set menu and the food, when it arrived, was virtually cold.

If we had the meals the other way around, we would not have made it to the a la carte meal. A shame.

What a find - about 5 mins from
Port Elizabeth tucked up in the hills... A breezy and charming place with a lovely atmosphere.

Admittedly off-season so pretty quiet, but we couldn't have asked for more attentive service. Polite, helpful and friendly - nothing was too much trouble.

The food was good - certainly no complaints. The setting is lovely - not beachside, but up in a hill with the coast in the background and a beautiful pool which you can spend the afternoon at... Which to us was worth every penny spent at lunch!

Not the cheapest on the island but not overpriced...

As with anywhere I'm sure it's the luck of the day on your food and service so there will always be the odd bad review...but we loved it and would highly recommend if you're over that way as a break from the beach!
