“So much character, beautiful Inn!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 18, 2014

I stayed at the Cobblestone for 2 nights in April 2014. Booking was easily done via email through very helpful staff. Check-in was smooth and my suite on the ground floor was beautiful! This Inn has tonnes of character, and many original features from its original use (it was a sugar factory).
Overall it was a comfortable and nice stay.
The Inn's rooftop restaurant has limited vegan options outside of coffee, fruit, and toast. The restaurant on the bottom (Basil's) was great. I had a delicious 3 course lunch with great vegan/veggie options for about US$25.

Room Tip: Get a suite instead of a standard room if you are staying more than 1 or 2 nights.

We arrived in Kingstown hoping to go directly to Wallillabou Bay for the night to visit the falls, but it was Saturday afternoon so there weren't a lot of buses heading that way. The woman at reception kindly called the hotel in that area to check availability for us and they had none, so even though it was more than we had hoped to pay, we booked in at the Cobblestone.

We were so pleased we did! Comfy bed, working a/c, TV, good shower - everything was wonderful. The architecture is quite unique and we really enjoyed our stay. Good breakfast at the restaurant upstairs (pretty much the only one open on Sunday morning!) and free, working wifi topped it all off.

DO NOT be fooled that you need a taxi from the ferry port - it's about 3 minutes walking. Come out of the ferry port, hang a left and Cobblestone Inn is on the right hand side.

Would stay here again should we ever return.

This is a very unique hotel with a creative design converting an old building into something useful. If you can't do stairs, carrying your luggage by yourself, don't even consider staying here! To simply check in, you must carry your luggage up a long, fairly steep climb of stairs to get to the reception desk. We didn't mind this at all, we prefer the exercise of stairs, so the winding walkways, ups, downs and arounds were no problem for us and we are non-drinkers so we never got lost. Our room was just around the corner from the reception desk. It was large with beautiful old wooden floors, large king size bed - perfect - and a large, heavy, old wooden table (refinished) that was perfect for our bags and spreading out our things. The bathroom was big with a great shower - good water pressure and endless hot water. It could use a renovation, but it was clean and in good working order. Bath linens were clean and in good condition, bed sheets were a bit thin, but clean. There was no blanket or duvet, (common in the Caribbean), for the bed and with out air conditioning, that would have been fine, but the air conditioning got a bit chilly in the night for me. Yes, turning it down would have made sense if one could have made sense how! We arrived in the evening and did not feel like it was a dodgy area at all as some reviews have mentioned. Yes, there were several locals gathered, but after all, the hotel is right down town next to the main market area. We ate in the restaurant down stairs - Basils- and the food was freshly prepared, hot when it arrived at the table and very delicious! The staff was very attentive, friendly and timely. It was a little pricey compared to other restaurants we had eaten at but worth it. We paid around 42 USD for dinner, no alcohol, no appetizers, no desert. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful also. I loved the uniqueness of the place and would call it very charming old world. The restaurant on the top floor was very lovely, but I have no opinion about the food or service as we did not eat here. The location is great - we walked to church on Sunday, walked to the main market and the ferry terminal. It is a bustling area on the week days, but our room was very quiet. Price per night was very reasonable. We only spent one night here, but I would definitely stay here again, just not for an extended stay especially if you want to be in a quiet, non-commercial area.

Charming hotel with lots of stairs - ups, downs, and arounds. Don't have too much to drink in the lovelystone and wood bar or you'll never find your room. We were on the ground floor and our room was on the musty side but the bath was newly remodeled. Our door wouldn't stay closed without a key and the drapes across the window wouldn't close fully. The room was clean and the staff is very friendly. Breakfast on the rooftop was very nice - unlike in America, they charge for the 2nd cup of coffee.

Market day in Kingstown on Friday which was lots of fun.

The hotels is located in the heart of Kingstown. Just a few blocks from the ferry. Not the best location is you want quiet. We were within walking distance to one of the biggest markets in the area. That was interesting. The building is old but the rooms are clean and acceptable for a short stay. I would not want to spend a two week vacation there but for a short stay no issues. The staff were friendly and the restaurant Basils was very good. Was not impressed with the restaurant on the roof top. The service was bad and the waiter was not friendly at all. But the girls in Basil's made up for him.

Room Tip: Ask for a inside room cuz if you are facing the streets it would be very noisy.

Nice hotel with all the amenities you would expect. It is an old building so has a lot of character. Each room is different but all rooms are en suite, with cable TV and free WiFi. Nice staff and two restaurants, a cafe on the top of the building and a bar and restaurant on the ground floor.

Our room was clean and comfortable. There is nowhere else in the centre of town remotely as good.

Room Tip: Rooms vary a lot, look before you buy

The hotel is located in the heart of Kingstown just a few blocks from the ferry. When we first arrived it didn't look like much, but the moment you walked through the front gates you were immediately wowed by the charm and history of the building. There are fountains and lush greenery everywhere, even the frogs were singing a welcome song. We stayed in two different rooms (before and after our visit to Bequia) both of which were charming and different than anywhere we had stayed before. There are a lot of stairs to contend with, so it may not be suitable for those who have limited mobility. We ate at Basil's twice and the food was very good although the drinks were way to strong ( I like a little daiquiri with my rum, but this seems to be the custom in SV and Bequia). The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful with whatever needs we had. I would avoid going out after dark as there are quite a few beggars and other intimidating individuals around. We would definitely stay at the Cobblestone again, without question.

Room Tip: There are a variety of different styles of rooms. We much preferred our larger room at the back of...
