I didn't stay here but did visit the island and used the bar/walked along the beach etc.

I could not understand the inflated price of staying here and would reccommend any honeymooners to investigate accommodation on the Island of Bequia as much more suited for an island getaway, and at a fraction of the cost, even for the most luxurious of accommodation.

Young Island was like Heaven, if you like:
*waking up at 6 am to watch the sunrise (which is the only reason I would want to wake up that early!);
*3 gourmet meals served daily by friendly waitresses close by;
*fresh fruit and flowers in your cottage daily;
*immaculate private cottages;
*lazing in a hammock on the beach or wading/swimming up to a bar in the water;
*lizards, iguanas, birds, sand crabs, hummingbirds, dolphins;
*temperatures in the mid 80s with a good breeze off of the water to keep you cool;
*rain showers that only last about 60 seconds and then stop;
*Pina Coladas & Young Island Specialty drinks;
*watching the sunset every night;
*seclusion-the only way onto Young Island is by water taxi;
*snorkeling, kayaking, hiking, going by the beach, or in the pool;...and we didn't even try the pedal boats, sail boat or the tennis court!

I read many reviews before we went to Young Island. Some of the complaints were that the night life on St Vincent was too noisy - we packed ear plugs and didn't use them. There was noise from the "mainland" one night, but not enough for us to complain. Another complaint was that there was broken glass on the beach- we did not find any broken glass. The beach attendants raked every morning after the night waves brought in coral, leaves and some debris. We brought flip-flops, but did not need them on the beach at Young Island.

When coming in from the airport, use the taxi service associated with Young Island. "Andrew" was especially knowledgeable and trustworthy. He brought us to the Botanical gardens (for an educational tour by "Professor Sinclair"), the Montreal Gardens and also the Salt Ponds on St Vincent. We learned a lot about St Vincent and the people. Hal's Seabreeze Nature Tours was an excellent choice for a trip on the water. We were very lucky to have seen our first pod of dolphins- numerous times! Hal was also very informative and pleasant. Both Hal and Andrew were like longtime friends.

Make sure you bring some waterproof cameras for all of the water excursions. Use 50 SPF sunscreen and apply often. Explore every inch of Young Island possible, it is paradise!

Bianca Porter is a welcoming, sociable and gracious hostess and should be commended on how smoothly she runs the island! Laura, LuAnn, Versilka, Latisha, Neil, Tyrone, Ivan, Margaret & Lester made an incredible impression on us! Within a few days they knew and used our names. They treated us with kindness and respect. Thank you for an unforgettable week!
