Description: Situated on the edge of the Rainforest Bananas is casual fun dining in a magical setting. We take our food very seriously but it is good home cooking prepared by hard working local ladies, not fancy or Gourmet.. However our menu is very creative and we use only fresh ingredients and where possible free range organic produce and meats. We have Magnificent Sunset views from our Firefly lounge and a superb selection of cocktails and old rums and a small selection of cuban Cigars.

Loved every minute of our dining experience here. The restaurant itself reminds me of a tree-house nestled away on top of the mountain. The staff was very kind and delightful. From the moment we arrived by taxi, there was someone waiting for us in the parking lot to show us down the path with a flashlight to the restaurant. Our waitress, Rosemary, was the best host. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was truly an unforgettable experience.

We read other reviews prior to dining at this restaurant. The majority of the negative reviews were about the dogs who are on site as well as negative comments about not being kid friendly. We saw several families with children when we were there and the staff catered to their every need. We do not have children (yet) but it seems as though this place would be perfect for a family outing. We did also see the dogs walking around. For those who commented on the dogs being a nuisance, barking/attacking, etc. are WRONG. The dogs are not big at all, never barked and never bothered any diner at the restaurant. In fact, the dogs were as sweet as can be and were very warm, welcoming and loving upon approach.

The restaurant is definitely hard to find. Taking a taxi would be ideal because the driver knows where it is, however, the taxi service is VERY expensive (almost as much as the meal!). Otherwise, the restaurant, staff, food and experience was absolutely amazing.

We ate at Banana's tonight with our 3 kids 8-12. Loved the atmosphere and the decor. Loved that someone was at the beginning with a flashlight taking us up and back down to our taxi. The food was fantastic the mussels (asian style) were to die for. The flavor amazing and the size great! Our kids had the skirt steak and the ribs and we had the hummus and Mahi Mahi and the lobster! YUMMY! The Molten chocolate cake and the banana creme brulee incredible. Everyone was so friendly and warm and we loved the dog she slept under our chairs our intire stay... Great place a must!

My wife and I dined there tonight. From the very beginning, the long drive up the very isolated (and poorly paved) road adds a bit of mystique to the place. But once we got there and saw how beautiful the place was, from the lighted path walkway entrance to the gorgeous landscape all around to the beautiful decor throughout, we know this place was something special.

We intentionally arrived early to check out the upper deck patio (which apparently has only been open one month) and see the sunset. WOW. Maybe the highlight of our trip. (If the owner reads this review, I'd encourage you not to cover the deck, or at the very least if it gets covered, have it be a soft cover that can be pulled back in the evenings). We sat and just stared up at the stars and took it all in. Drinks were fantastic! We ordered the Neze appetizer, which was a sampler of Nevisian cuisine. AWESOME.

For dinner, my wife had the fish of the day (mahi) and I had the ribs. Both were excellent!

But despite great food and an amazing rooftop deck, I think the people there were what put this place over the top. Each one of them were truly so nice (including the live musician) and just made us feel very much at home. We were there celebrating my wife's birthday and they truly made it very special!

If you find yourself in Nevis, don't miss the chance to dine here!

Bananas was my favorite meal of our six-day trip in Nevis and St. Kitts.

The atmosphere is AMAZING. It's a colorful cottage halfway up Mount Nevis so you have a beautiful view of the ocean from the upstairs patio. The entire place is open so you feel like you're eating a wonderful meal in the jungle, but we didn't have a problem with bugs like other areas on the island. There is also local art for sale all over the restaurant and a small gallery down a nearby path on the property. It was great seeing some of the local talent. There's a precious dog that runs around the property named "Jodi," who I LOVED playing with, but she did not bother us at all after our meal started.

We all enjoyed the signature drink, which was so refreshing, delicious and strong! Definitely recommend.

We started with the hummus and focaccia bread... really small portions and probably not worth $10, but tasty nonetheless. We also got the caprese salad, which was nothing too special and also kind of small for $12.

I ordered the lamb flank with garlic mashed potatoes.... fantastic! The lamb was so tender and literally fell off the bone and the potatoes were the perfect compliment. My friends got the mahi mahi and it was fresh and delicious.

Overall, it was exactly what I wanted for a truly Nevis experience. A must-see for visitors!

We had dinner at Bananas one evening and it was definitely one of the many highlights of our trip to Nevis. The service was great, the atmosphere was incredible, and the food was amazing! Upon arrival it was a bit chilly, and one of the owners brought all of the ladies in our group shawls... it just got better from here. Every one was so attentive! Musings from the chef, samples of craft rum, art browsing, puppies, monkeys... SO much fun! Highly recommended!
