Description: Situated on the edge of the Rainforest Bananas is casual fun dining in a magical setting. We take our food very seriously but it is good home cooking prepared by hard working local ladies, not fancy or Gourmet.. However our menu is very creative and we use only fresh ingredients and where possible free range organic produce and meats. We have Magnificent Sunset views from our Firefly lounge and a superb selection of cocktails and old rums and a small selection of cuban Cigars.

This is the worst dining experience I have had in my life. The manager of the restaurant is rude and clearly does not know the meaning of customer service. The service was extremely slow and the food was below average. If u are traveling with children do not visit this restaurant, they do not cater to kids. If you are in Nevis go to another restaurant you have others to chose from, do not visit Bananas.

I am the owner of Bananas, it was me who asked (politely) the father of the 4 young chlldren if he would mind keeping the children at their table, as I had three separate complaints from other guests about the children.
This was a last resort on my part, it was 9.15pm I had already called their taxi, they were seated at 8pm (they chose not to take my advice and come earlier at 6.30) One hour and fifteen minutes is not a long to to spend on dinner in a full service restaurant. We went out of our way to accomodate the children. I mentioned nothing to the parents at all regarding the children's crying and running all over the dining room. More than any other establishment , Bananas is very child friendly, But this is after all an Adult enviroment not a play school. Frankly the experience of the other diners was compromised by tired and grouchy children who would have been better off in bed. After the said Gentleman uttered a profanity about honeymooners, I decided to call their Hotel Concierge to give them a heads up, as I always do when there is a glitch with one of their guests. The Four Seasons Resort recieved 2 complaints that night from other diners at Bananas who where dismayed by the commotion caused. No-one likes a bad revue, but the above one is inaccurate and terribly one sided. However, I am sorry that their experience was not a good one. Customer service is very important to us here.

We went with two adults and five teenagers. It's pretty expensive, and a bit odd to have a dog walking through the room, but the restaurant definitely has a local flavor. The food was yummy, service was great and we all enjoyed ourselves.

We met a Nevisian gentleman on the plane coming over from SJU to Nevis who recommended we go to Bananas for local fare. When other plans fell through, we were able to secure reservations for the restaurant. We're very glad we got to experience this place.

The house is a charmingly decorated setting. You sit out on the porch with gorgeous views of the lights of the city and other islands. It's cool and relaxing. A touch romatic, too.The food is a mixture of island fare with asian touches.

The amouse bouche was a plate of tuna "balls" that came with a spicy chili style dipping sauce.

We shared an appetizer of salt fish and johnny cakes. This is an acquired taste only for those who like salty fish like baccalao or similar. The johnny cakes are like hugh puppies. The portion is large enough for two to share. There are many other "regular" starters for those less adventurous. (We had considered their pear and walnut salad or their hummus dip with chips, among others)

For entrees: My husband had their chicken curry, slightly spicy, with rice. I tried their black bean sticky baby back ribs that came with rice and salad. Both entrees were delicious. Suffice it to say we cleaned our plates! (We had also considered their lamb shank that came with a pappadum. The table next to us were raving about theirs...)

Checks, btw, include the VAT Tax (10%) but not the usual 15% service charge (which is also on most menus) so you can choose your tip amount (we've always added a few dollars in cash more -- who doesn't tip 20% in a good restaurant these days?). They accept credit cards. Credit slips are in US dollars. Prices for entrees are moderate averaging $22 - $30.

This was a delightful dining experience we happily lingered over and thoroughly enjoyed.

PS They do have some wonderful sounding deserts, too, we just had no room to try them...but we were sorely tempted.

Once you can locate the place, you definitely deserve the treat that awaits you. Bananas Bistro is a quaint and beautiful restaurant located up in the higher parts of Nevis. We went for Sunday brunch with a local jazz solo playing in the background, with great cocktails, and a delicious buffet consisting of sophisticated local cousine fresh from the sea. It's pricey but worth it.
