Owner description: Greg was born and brought up on St. Kitts and Nevis and following his return home from College in Nova Scotia Canada in 1980, started working at his Parents hotel, the Ocean Terrace Inn, with one of his jobs being to do tours for the hotels guests. While growing up on St. Kitts, Greg's parents became leaders in the local Tourism Industry, starting one of the first hotels in the islands, with Greg's Dad, eventually receiving the "Order of the British Empire" (OBE), from the St. Kitts Government for his outstanding achievements in local Industry. This has given Greg a unique grounding as well as a deep sense of understanding for his home country and coupled with his tourism training abroad, has allowed him to become one of leading and longest serving tour guides in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. Greg and his team of certified Tour Guides have won many awards from the Tourism Authority for their businesses high standards of service. From the very beginning Greg has used modified, 4X4 Land Rovers to do his "unique" island Safaris with. Being specially made, the 8 Land Rovers he uses today, are all open sided with mostly forward facing, stadium orientated seating, that provide his guests with the best way to experience exploring beyond the shores of St. Kitts and Nevis. Greg's Safaris is the only tour company in the Federation that uses 4X4 Land Rovers for touring on both islands! For your private, half days hiking pleasure, Greg has created two "unique looped hiking trails", one at the Phillips Mountain Valley (2 miles long), and at the other at the Wingfield River Valley (2 1/2 miles long), on St. Kitts. His company is also the only one on St. Kitts to offer driving tours from coast to coast through the lushly forested interior and while traveling through the mountains his guests would have access to a private 5 acre "mountain top property", perched1000 feet sea level, a place of cool temperatures and breathtaking views, that can only be experienced on a "one of kind" 4X4 Safari Tour with him and his guides. Greg is one of the founding members of the St. Christopher National Trust and as well, sits on the Central Forest Reserve National Park Committee. He is also a Life Member of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, The Brimstone Hill National Park and is also part owner of Sky Safaris, a company he started in 2009.

Greg's ranking as number one ST. Kitt's attraction is well deserved. Our family ( parents and 17 yr. old & 11 yr. old) along with another woman did the Atlantic side half day Rainforest hike the last week of July '09. He picked us up at the Marriott and drove us in his open air LandRover into the cane fields/farm to start our hike. We saw wonderful nature and animals. He loves questions and explains everything. He points outs parts of the eco-system I never would have considered! Loved trying all the different fruits at the end of the hike. It was not strenuous and would be fine for younger kids too! Greg is doing what he loves, where he grew up and loves the island and the visitors. We highly recommend!

“The best excursion on our trip”
Reviewed June 23, 2009

We took this excursion on the last day of our Southern Carib cruise. It was absolutely the best one of them all. After taking an excursion on every island we visited each day of our cruise we considered just enjoying the ship for the last port of St. Kitts. I was so glad we chose not to stay on the ship that day and chose Greg's Safari. When the cruise line host directed us to Greg she told us we had the best guide. He was absolutely the best. The information he gave us about the island was so interesting and he was absolutely the best host ever. He ended the most relaxing tour with a wonderful picnic allowing us to taste some of the best local fresh fruits that I have ever had. Here it is days that we have returned home and we are still talking about that tour. It was the perfect tour to end a wonderful vacation. Hope to visit St. Kitts again very soon and will definately check out Greg's other tours.

“Worth the money, even for independent hikers”
Reviewed June 23, 2009

We wanted to climb the volcano, but could not find good info on hiking trails etc. We did Greg's hike (he was the leader) and recommend it to anyone who loves to hike. I am 47 and my husband is 53, in fairly good shape. We did fine on the hike, if you are out of shape or are not good at climbing over felled trees I would not recommend it.
The views at the top of the crater were awesome.
Greg picks you up at your hotel, the drive to the north part of the island is very scenic. You also get a sack lunch and some sncaks after the hike.
We always hike on our own, but Greg's trip for $95 each was worth it.....for sure we would have gotten lost with out his guidance!! And it saves the cost of a rental car.

Book straight thru Greg, it will save you a few bucks off what the hotel will charge you.

“St. Kitts Best Island Tours by Greg's Safaris”
Reviewed March 24, 2009

Greg's Safaris is a MUST if you are visiting St. Kitts. My family did the sugar plantation tour one afternoon and then the volcano hike/climb - which is a full day adventure and a bit strenuous, but you will feel great afterwards especially sipping a rum punch (or two) provided at the end of the descent. You cannot leave St. Kitts without experiencing at least one of Greg's very informative and well planned tours.

“Amazing!! great for photo-bugs”
Reviewed February 27, 2009

We took a half day trek with Greg on the Carribbean side of the island. The trip is not easy - lots of up-hill climbing - but well worth the effort. I stopped and spent some time just sitting by a stream while the others pushed on. There were no bugs and no snakes - just the sun dappling through the tree-tops.

Greg know his plants, and environment and is not afraid to discuss the issues facing the area re tourism vs. eco-friendly development. He is also great with kids and really gets them involved with the tour. We travelled with a 3-year-old and I would not suggest any younger than that.

Well worth the money.
