Owner description: Greg was born and brought up on St. Kitts and Nevis and following his return home from College in Nova Scotia Canada in 1980, started working at his Parents hotel, the Ocean Terrace Inn, with one of his jobs being to do tours for the hotels guests. While growing up on St. Kitts, Greg's parents became leaders in the local Tourism Industry, starting one of the first hotels in the islands, with Greg's Dad, eventually receiving the "Order of the British Empire" (OBE), from the St. Kitts Government for his outstanding achievements in local Industry. This has given Greg a unique grounding as well as a deep sense of understanding for his home country and coupled with his tourism training abroad, has allowed him to become one of leading and longest serving tour guides in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. Greg and his team of certified Tour Guides have won many awards from the Tourism Authority for their businesses high standards of service. From the very beginning Greg has used modified, 4X4 Land Rovers to do his "unique" island Safaris with. Being specially made, the 8 Land Rovers he uses today, are all open sided with mostly forward facing, stadium orientated seating, that provide his guests with the best way to experience exploring beyond the shores of St. Kitts and Nevis. Greg's Safaris is the only tour company in the Federation that uses 4X4 Land Rovers for touring on both islands! For your private, half days hiking pleasure, Greg has created two "unique looped hiking trails", one at the Phillips Mountain Valley (2 miles long), and at the other at the Wingfield River Valley (2 1/2 miles long), on St. Kitts. His company is also the only one on St. Kitts to offer driving tours from coast to coast through the lushly forested interior and while traveling through the mountains his guests would have access to a private 5 acre "mountain top property", perched1000 feet sea level, a place of cool temperatures and breathtaking views, that can only be experienced on a "one of kind" 4X4 Safari Tour with him and his guides. Greg is one of the founding members of the St. Christopher National Trust and as well, sits on the Central Forest Reserve National Park Committee. He is also a Life Member of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, The Brimstone Hill National Park and is also part owner of Sky Safaris, a company he started in 2009.

We had a tremendously informative and entertaining tour of the rain forest. Joseph did a spectacular job and the follow up snack and refreshments were amazing.

Hello,
We very much appreciate your feed back about our all inclusive, half days' hiking tour that visits the islands richest reservoir of Bio-Diversity, the Tropical Rain-forest here on beautiful St. Kitts. The trails that are offered on our all inclusive rainforest hikes, to Phillips and the Valley of Giants, were created by ourselves over the years and so offer a unique, as well as a private hiking experience for our guests to enjoy. Joseph also appreciates very much your comments and we look forward to welcoming you back to our intriguing shores one day soon!

Because we enjoy getting into the islands and avoid doing the types of excursions that can be found on any island, we signed on with Greg for our day on St. Kitts. He did not disappoint. His knowledge of the island's history and culture was on display, as well as his familiarity with the trails through the mountains. And what beautiful hiking! He also shared with us some local baked goods along with some sugarcane samples... good eating!

We're headed back to the island in February '14 and we'll be spending our day with Greg again.

I took a group of students to St. Kitts for 2 weeks. We went on the rainforest tour towards the end of our trip. The students were tired and cranky by this time of the trip, but as soon as Joseph started speaking with them and showing them all the plants around the trail, they were completely captivated. Joseph was so knowledgeable of St. Kitts, and dazzled the students with his knoweldge on how each plant can be used as we walked around. When he asks you if you want to walk back or go on an adventure, make sure you choose the adventure. That will lead you on an interesting and unforgettable path! The tour ended with a big feast of local fruits and fresh juice. Definitely a worthwhile tour!

Hello,

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your kind comments about your school groups hiking tour to the Valley of Giants, with us recently when Joseph was your tour guide and driver.

Joseph is my longest serving tour guide here at Gregs Safaris, and has a wealth of intriging information that he passes on to his guests. Before working with Gregs Safaris he trained as a mountain ranger for the Sugar Industry and as such is very familiar with the mountains of St. Kitts and also very much loves hiking the lushly forested interior of our island home with our visiting Tourists.

He definately has a gentle and engaging nature about him, and the guests and children that tour with him always like to call him the Gentle Giant! He is 6 foot 3 inches.

Thanks again for touring with us and i look forward to welcoming you back to our sunny shores one day!

My husband, daughter, and I shared a wonderful walk in the rainforest on St. Kitts with Greg. We normally prefer to do our own thing instead of a touristy, guided walk. But Greg's trip was well worth it and NOT your typical tourist tour. Greg is incredibly knowledgeable about St. Kitts and the rainforest especially. He shared so much knowledge in a relatively short amount of time! The amenities of the trip were fabulous - a well maintained trail, walking sticks, and a great picnic of local foods at the end. Greg was extremely accommodating; we called him at the last minute, and he picked us up in town and delivered us back to our boat. We loved it all! Thanks for sharing! St. Kitts has my heart!

Hello,

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your kind remarks about my award winning tour company, Gregs Safaris, here on beautiful St. Kitts.

We have been in operation since 1989 and are the only tour company with speically modified Land Rovers on the island. We can offer our services either through local agents, via Cruise ships or local hotels, and as well directly as I did for you, with return transportation from anywhere on the island, on a more personal and private basis.

We have also created our very own Rainforest hiking trail, at Phillips Mountain, which we keep maintained for our own private use, so as to give our guests the private and comfortable hiking tour that they look for. No crowds, just you and your knowledgeable Guide touring the wilds of our island home, a place where monkeys roam freely in the forest canopy and hummingbirds fly from inspiring flower to inspiring flower, and a freshwater spring encourages you to take a dip and cool off! Our Phillips Rainforest Hike is only exculsively available through us.

Thanks again for your time and kind posting about our tour company and i look forward to welcoming you or your friends, back to our shores one day soon.

We booked the 4x4 Safari and Beach tour through our cruise line. We weren't expecting St. Kitts to have much to offer after researching online, but boy were we surprised. A fellow passenger recommended this tour and we are very grateful we listed to him. Our tour guide Joseph was excellent and we rode all the way up through small villages and towns you would never see on any other tour. Everyone was incredibly nice and outgoing to say hello, honk and wave as we passed by. We then reached a private estate up on top of the hill for some great fews and a rum punch. We toured through the rain forest and back town to Frigate bay to hang out. Although we got hit with a huge rainstorm this still turned out to be one of our favorite excursions on the whole cruise. I would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to St. Kitts that would like to get the best of both worlds, a tour of the island as well as the beach.

Hello,

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your kind remarks about our "4X4 Safari and Beach Tour", which is offered exclusively to the visiting cruise ships that come to our beautiful island home.

We are the only tour company on St. Kitts that use specially modified "4X4 Land Rovers", vehicles that offer ideal touring of our "off road areas", and in the process, taking our guests all the way through the lushly forested moutains of St. Kitts, going from coast to coast in the process, ,while stopping at a private propterty, in the middle of the island, and on top of a mountain 1000 feet above sea level, before continuing on to the beach at Frigate Bay for a chance to swim in the warm Sea.

It promises to be the best photo safari of St. Kitts that you can ever do and as well offers an intriguing look at the areas, "beyond the shore", a place few of our tourists ever get a chance to see as the islands main road follows the coastline and we take to the back roads.

i look forward to welcoming you or your friends back to our sunny shores one day agian soon.
