we've visited this beach twice, and loved it, it has a mix of black lava sand with with the other, be careful, use aqua shoes, the sand gets very hot, due to the lava mix, also there are rough rocky parts in the water, aqua shoes are a must. The feel of this place is relaxing and tropical, you can get an awesome massage for a small fee.and rent your chair and palm tree shade spot, food and drinks can be purchased at the grill. The Bathrooms and a place to rinse off the sand your feet are close by. We liked it so much we will return soon.

“Always are favorite stop in St. Kitts”
Reviewed November 21, 2013

We love Shipwreck so much, it is what brought us to St. Kitts. We always go to Shipwreck when we have a day stop on a cruise. We love Shipwreck so much, it was one of our deciding factors to stay in St. Kitts for a week. During our week in St. Kitts we went to Shipwreck twice. We were amazed at how much of the beach they had lost since we were there in April. The taxi driver said it was due to some backward winds they had a few weeks ago. They have two chairs with straw thatched umbrella tops they rent for $10. Because they lost some beach, they had to move the row closest to the water back. There isn't much space between the two rows, so you have to be careful not to hit your head (as I did and some others as well). The water appears a little rough but once you get past the waves, it's really not rough and they have a great reef to snorkel right off the beach. They rent noodles and snorkel gear but you can bring your own. They have a restaurant with great food, drinks and prices. My favorite drink was the Sand Dollar, a Bailey's mixture. Their chicken tacos are so good, I had them both days we visited. They have bathrooms and a changing room. The only negative that I wish we knew ahead of time is they do not take credit cards. I think this is a change because we have been here several times and I do not recall this. Make sure you bring some cash. They have a few massage tables which always seem to be full. Definitely, our favorite place in St. Kitts.

“Black sand beach”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

We were a little confused when we asked the cab driver to take us to South Friars Beach and we ended up at "Shipwreck Beach." Apparently they are the same thing and shipwreck is the name of the bar on s.friars beach. Anyway...we had a great time. There are shaded chairs for rent ($10/2chairs/day), snorkeling gear for rent, and a great little beach bar to purchase food. They had local beer and food which were both good. Cheap buckets of beer avaialble for purchase! There were NO locals on the beach begging you to buy their necklaces which was nice! Several locals on the beach but most were americans attending vet school there. Dogs are allowed on the beach/in the water but must be on leash (doesn't necessarily mean the leash must be held by its owner). The sand is black so if you are looking for that "white sandy beach" this isn't the place. There are monkeys and mongoose the restaurant feeds several times a day so they are available to see and photograph. Overall great beach and only $4-6pp depending on how many people are in your cab. We waited around to get a full cab back to the ship (there are several leaving each hour).

“Get Local!!!!”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

Great local spot to hang out at the beach and eat and drink. Not the cleanest of places, but still a great drinking spot - a bucket of beers was $12 - you can't beat that!

“Nice rustic bar a little out of the way...”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

We loved the imperfect nature of the bar and beach with a great view. Lots of sun beds and good cold beer made for a great afternoon in the sun.
