Description: Sprat net is wonderful restaurant located approximately 20 minutes north of Basseterre in Old Road Village. It is right on the water and is open for dinner. The owners are fishermen who go out in the morning and then serve their daily catch in the evening. They serve bbq lobster, ribs, chicken, steamed catch of the day fish, and wonderful pizzas. It is casual with ample seating and a beautiful view of the Caribbean Sea. Prices range from $10US to $30US for dinner. They also have a full bar.

“Back to Sprat Net again”
Reviewed June 12, 2014

We have been going to Sprat Net since our first trip to St. Kitts in 2003. Back then it was a quiet ocean side locals place with great seafood caught by the owners and served fresh each night. He always has lobster, even if others on the Island don't. Now it has grown in popularity, and people from the hotels, the students on the Island, and locals all come here for fun and food. Wednesday night has a band, so the parking gets tough unless you get there early. Over the years, the food has remained fresh, the picnic tables are still used, and the uncovered tables outside provide a wonderful place for fresh food with a view of the sea under the stars and moon.

Nothing fancy here. Lobsters, chicken, ribs, fish of the day (red snapper last night) pizza, or combos of these. All cooked over grills. You go to cooking area, place your order, go to bar, get your drinks, and find a table. A must if you can make it to here.

“Great slice of island social scene”
Reviewed May 21, 2014

Great Wednesday night out. Recommend you cab it with a group as it is out there along some pretty crazy roads and drivers (~$24 each way from Marriott ). Driver will wait as it is not worth his while going back to town.
Band was fantantastic - 3 vocalists and 2 organ players playing mainly their own excellent soul / reggae mix - (i.e. very little Marley). Food was great but you have to engage in the eating process if you pick the fresh fish - it is easier to use your fingers (red snapper this day). Nice to sit outside on the picnic tables overlooking the water a few feet below. Locals were having a birthday and a hen party and the band did them proud. Would definitely go back to this slice of island life.

“A Must When On The Island”
Reviewed May 11, 2014

During our 10 day stay on the island, we ate here twice. Truely a local hangout, therefore, if you're looking for five star elegance, look elsewhere. Wednesday nights are busy with live music. We ordered the lobster one evening, then enjoyed a pizza during our second visit. Parking can be difficult on Wednesday and Saturday nights, but its worth the hassle.

“great service”
Reviewed May 10, 2014

My family and I had the pleasure of meeting the hostess Allison, she was very willing, attentive and extremely generous, the food is extremely fresh and is any seafood lovers heaven, we had the lobster, shrimp and baby back ribs, all came with baked potatoes, corn on the cob and jonny cakes or fried bake for us trini, all under 35us per plate. Definitely a place to check out if your are ever in St kitts. Wished I was able to go back on my last day but the impending storm kept me away. Excellent service

“Great local seafood”
Reviewed April 29, 2014

We checked out Sprat Net after seeing several high recommendations online. We went Wednesday night and enjoyed a lively crowd, great band, and great fish and ribs. We stayed long enough after our meal that one too many great looking pizzas walked by. We had to try one ourselves, so we ordered a small 'garbage' pizza and found it to be excellent as well.
We liked Sprat Net so much that we returned the following night…. to a whole different world. In fact, we weren't even sure it was open since there were no cars or people. It WAS open and we sat down at the picnic tables out by the sea, where we ordered the red snapper (whole). The atmosphere had changed but the food had not. The fish was cooked to perfection and was delicious. It was well worth the drive outside of Basseterre.
