Owner description: Once the site of slave auctions and council meetings, the square exemplifies Colonial-style architecture.

This is the little square downtown, near the cruise ship docks. Really nothing special, kinf of cute, but also, like a lot of things around, garbage is everywhere. if you are around take a peek, otherwise not worth going all the way there.

This is a square in the middle of the town, it is next to St. George's Anglican Church, the circus or the city center, so if you are close why not came and take a rest and see some local people and some of the colonial architecture of the buildings that are around this square? Also some fruit / ice cream / food / random stuff sellers around the park, but in the end is just and a square with an out of service fountain in the middle, and you can see all this things (sellers / people / architecture) if you keep walking around...

To see the locals and to interact with them, this is the place! It was clean very well kept up and
was full of amazing trees, flowers and plants!

In humid Basseterre, this is a haven of tranquility and lack of humidity; you might even get a breeze; the tamarind ice creams are to die for; the Art Gallery is not actually on the square, but behind it net to the Catholic Cathedral.

You may find locals selling fruits, roots, produces in general. Many of the produces are NOT local, instead these are imported from nearby islands. You may be safe trying sme fried food from street vendors which are kittitian recipes. For lunch, I will recommend to try eating outside downtown like Nirvana plantation which is a 5 min drive. And if you have no choice and want to eat a good deep fried chicken try the one across. The postal office on Bay road, one block from the independence square.
