Some of our friends booked the cockleshell beach excursion through the ship. We walked off the ship and were greeted by hordes of people wanting to take us to the beach. We walked until we found an older, reserved gentleman and he took us to cockleshell and came back for us. That is very important that you make plans for your driver to come back and get you. It is about thirty minutes from the ship. The scenery is wonderful and you will see lots of monkeys. There is a really cute monkey at the beach that you can get your pic made with him for about 5.00. You will also have beach vendors selling their jewelry...take the time to look...I bought a beautiful red coral necklace for 20.00!! Great waitresses and the chairs have little flags that you can pop up when you need service! Yay!

At Debbie's bar ,which is about 100 metres to right as you enter the beach. The sun beds and parasol are only $10 for 2 people and beers(Carib) are only $2 .
Snorkelling with turtles was amazing in the area from the diving platform to the headland.

This is a great Caribbean beach, a good jaunt on a cruise ship stopover.

There are people here, enjoying it as you will. A few bars. One of them is Reggae Beach Bar. Here, they keep a goat, a monkey and a fat pig. I love this.

It's named cockleshell beach of course because there are spots in shore where there's as much shell as sand.

Cool tip:

Just to the right is Banana Bay, a completely deserted and beautiful beach. If you're like me, you can strip off your clothes, swim through the ocean and then get just a bit embarrassed when you exit the water as a boat cruises by.

Cockleshell Beach is a nice introduction to the Caribbean - totally unspoilt, almost basic - with just a couple of beach bars, but quite a quaint place to swim and laze around.

Great beach - we stayed here all day. Paid for chairs and umbrella, ate at the Reggae Bar, enjoyed the laid back island vibe. We did snorkel but is was not very good although we say some fish and an octopus.
