“Great find!”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

We took a taxi from the Marriott (fare ~ $25) to this beach to snorkel and relax on the Caribbean side of the Southeast Peninsula. We were able to grab a couple of chairs and an umbrella ($15 total) and just soak in the beauty! We rented snorkel gear ($10/ea) and discovered amazing varieties of coral and fish - excellent visibility just feet away from the beach! Hazel from the Reggie Beach Bar was very gracious and happy to assist with drinks and lunch. The conch chowder & conch fritters were perfect to warm us up after our long underwater adventures! On our return trip, near dusk, we were greeted with a large group of vervet monkeys 'discussing their future excursions' - they were pleased to poise as we snapped away!

“Great choice for a day in the cruise port”
Reviewed February 7, 2013

While visiting the island for the day on a cruise, we decided to take a taxi to Cockleshell. $7pp taxi each way. The drive alone is really beautiful and shows you a great deal of the untouched island. We also had the privilege of having a taxi driver that explained the history of the island and pointed out different highlights along the way. The beach itself was nice and not too crowded.(I believe there were only 2 ships in port that day) You also have a beautiful view of the sister island, Nevis. Compared to the other beaches and islands we visited on our trip (St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Dominica, Barbados), we felt that this beach had the most locals trying to sell massages/pictures with monkeys/merchandise/etc. Nonetheless, people were still friendly and not too bothersome. This beach was great to swim at, very calm water, and there were bars/restaurants at each end. Overall I was very pleased with the beach and the island as a whole.

“Good Beach and Eats”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

Lots of places to eat and relax on this beach, including spice mill. Get down to end of St Kitts there are some really lovely beaches. Nearby if you prefer something really quiet is Majors Bay (this is where the car ferry goes from) - its absolutely deserted.

“Great time at Debbie's!”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

Had a great time on Cockleshell Beach! Wanted to especially thank Talbo who is the President of the Taxi Association. What started out as a not-so-pleasant experience turned out to be excellent due to Talbo. He personally brought us down to the Beach and we spent a few hours at Debbie's - her kiosk is just before the pier over to Nevis. Check it out and let her know that Sandy and Terry from Canada referred you there! Fun in the Sun!!!

“An idyllic day spent at an amazing location”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

We shared a taxi from our cruise ship port to this beach with 2 other couples after reading up on it prior to leaving the UK.

Our driver was helpful and gave us loads of info about the area, before leaving us he arranged a pick up time and said we could pay him later!

We hired 2 chairs and an umbrella; the staff were very friendly and could not do enough for you. We spent an absolutely idyllic day here just chilling and soaking up the sun. The sea was clear and warm and the view to Nevis was stunning. I walked the length of the beach shell collecting. Offers of aloha massages were plentiful and the girls told the men they would have to dance if they refused the massage which was hilarious. Lots of watersports available which looked great fun.

Amazing coffee and fantastic lunch at the Reggae Bar, alas no Wilbur though.

Only downside was hearing about the Marina being built, which I suspect will spoil the area before long, so glad we got to see it before that happens.

Really great day which was not spoilt with too many of us cruise ship passengers, later in the day lots of locals arrived with their laughter, chatter and music which only added to the experience. Superb.
