The railway takes you through the part of St Kitts where the sugar cane was farmed. Sadly the industry has now gone (due to Europe growing sugar beet & producing our own sugar). It rattles through villages & open country past the volcanoes whilst being entertained by local singers & drinking local drinks of pina colada, rum punch etc. It is a fun way to see the real people's St Kitts & certainly makes you think about their history. There are two decks, we chose the open, upper but maybe when it is mid-summer the lower, air conditioned would be better. The morning run had broken down, so our trip was delayed & apart from the wait, everything was fine.
