“Black sand beaches”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

Nice little place tucked back off the beaten path. The beach was very narrow. You can rent a chair for 3 bucks for a chair or 10 for 2 chairs under a shade hut. The sand is unique. Black sand which gets very hot. There was a nice breeze there. There is a designated area for swimming and right next to swimming there is great snorkeling. We walked down the beach about a half mile and snorkeled back. One caution, there are thousands of sea urchins the first 40 feet off the beach where you snorkel. Don't walk there with bare feet. Basically you just swim over the top of them and the reef and it pure sand after that. There we tons of conk shells for the keeping, along with tons of shells. We saw stingrays, sea slugs, huge star fish and tons of all colored fish. Bring your water camera. The water is crystal clear. Only the beach sand is black. The sand in the water is light. As for shipwreck bar and grill drinks run around 4 bucks and are about a 10oz cup. They have pick nick tables set up so you can eat and hang out. Taxis drivers seam to hang out there but they don't bother you. There just waiting to pick there clients up. There were monkeys in the hill. Along with mongoose. They look like ferrets running around. The monkeys are fed the left overs along with sugar can. My wife brought a banana with here and one of the monkey jumped on the table. The guy scared him off because they love bananas and they will fight over it. Literally. He cut it up and shared it with all the monkey. It nice to see how a monkey carries his baby. They just hold on underneath. Pretty awesome to see. The food smelled delicious and was. I had the jerk chicken which came with seasoned rice salad and fried banana dough. Well it tastes somewhat of banana. My wife had the jerk pork. Both were a great choice. Lunch costed about 8 to 10 each for our meals. Believe me, it was a lot of food. Good selection on the menu. Friendly staff. They do sell t shirts and stuff there. If you looking for a relaxing day in the sun, with good drinks, food and good snorkeling. Then go here. We came in on a cruise. Caught a taxi from scooby. Cool dude. 6 bucks round trip per person and we paid him when he picked us back up at the end. He was there when we asked him to be. Don't forget to sign your name some where at the bar. Great place for the day.

“Great lunch stop.”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

We had a nice lunch here. Pleasant surroundings, wild monkeys and mongoose to see, beautiful beach, and very good food. They close at 6:30 so don't plan dinner here.

“Weren't impressed”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

In all fairness, we didn't eat at the restaurant, so this is not a review of the restaurant. This review is for the beach. Very small, HOT black sand and the water was full of seaweed and was warm (translation=not refreshing). We've just been to much prettier, enjoyable beaches. We are beach people but were ready to leave after an hour.

“A Golden Nugget on St. Kitts”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

This is a beach that is visited by the cruise ship passengers and locals alike. One of the owners, Kim, is from my old stomping grounds in Mentor, OH. The drinks are fantastic - had one of the best Margaritas here - and the food is hot and delicious. Volleyball, snorkeling equipment rental, beach chairs and palm frond shades on the beach make this a 'don't miss this place' stop on your visit.

Gift shop sells hats, t-shirts, and gifts.

Liked it so much I went back a second time.

“Black sand beach!!”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

Very different place from any other beach you can go to. Depending on the day and the weather, the water is appealing or not so much.
The bar is good and the drinks arent super expensive.
