We rented scooters for a day in St. Kitts while we were there and Liz had the scooters delivered to our condo. Its a great way to see the Island. You do need a drivers License and they will help you get one.

This was our second year using Pereira Tours on St. Kitts and third trip to the island.

Rainforest Hike 2012

Last year (2012) Liz arranged a private rainforest hike for us. The tour lasted 3 hours and we learned about the rainforest ecosystem as well as learning a lot about the incredible plants. Our guide was an expert on how to use the plants to make almost any remedy in the drugstore. I would consider this almost a walk in the woods instead of a hike. Although it was not challenging physically there were some slippery parts of the path and some roots to step over. Overall it was a great value and the ride to the rainforest allows you to see more of the island.

Volcano Hike 2013 - Mt. Liamuga

After a little taste of the rainforest in 2012, we wanted to experience more. Liz suggested that we hike the volcano when we return. Mt. Liamuga peak is 3,792 feet and is the highest point on the island of Saint Kitts. This is a traditional hike and some portions are challenging. Experienced hikers will not be surprised by the terrain. Novice hikers might be challenged a little. Our guide, David, was top notch. Not only was he friendly and knowledgeable about the island, he grew up in the town right at the edge of the rainforest, called Old Road. (And he just did this hike the day before with a group. He’s a machine!) Be prepared for about 5 hours of hiking. The path is steep in sections and since it is a rainforest there will be some slippery parts. You can do the hike in regular shoes but it might be more comfortable in hiking boots or cross trainers. Although David supplied water, a snack, and juice (the snack was amazing BTW) - it’s a good idea to bring your own water supply. We brought a 50oz Camelbak with us and some powerbars just in case we needed to fuel up. David hiked at a comfortable pace and took breaks as we went along.

The summit is beautiful. The day we went it was very clear. There were some clouds near the top edge of the crater. If you are a little brave you can climb to get an amazing view of the Caribbean Sea in the distance.

I highly recommend Liz and Pereira Tours.
Great service - Attentive - knowledgable!
There are many other great tours and feel free to ask Liz about an activity on the island - she knows it all!

We are already planning our return trip!
See you in 2014 (or maybe sooner!)

Booked a private Island Tour for our group of 5 (ages 15 to 65+) with Liz via email a couple of weeks before our cruise. We met as planned and she set us up with Raphael as our guide for the day. He was very nice and shared his insights about St. Kitts while showing us the sights, ending at Cockleshell beach. I would definitely recommend Raphael as your guide - he helped us decide that St. Kitts was our favorite island.
The only negative was that the beach area at the Reggae Beach bar and grill was narrow and crowded, so you may want to go to a different area.

My wife and I had a wonderful, adventurous time renting a scooter and touring the entire island. If you are considering doing the same, you can have a fantastic time; approach the adventure with respect and awareness for the road conditions, driving environment, scooter limitations, and finally, your own driving skill-sets. I also recommend that couples ride together on one scooter – better opportunity for communication and sharing of the experience – less chance of accidental collision, too. I highly recommend Liz and her Periera Tours company. She is thorough, courteous, knowledgeable, and on-time.

On our visit with our son during his spring break from Ross University, we weren't sure what there was to do or where to go on St. Kitts and Nevis. I called Liz, and within ten minutes she had us set up with tours and recommended activities to do on our own that fit our needs and desires. Everything occurred according to plan and we had a wonderful week and made several new friends as well.
